Hello, my daughter is applying as a sophomore transfer. Her original pick of colleges turned out to be a very poor social fit. She received a 3.7 from the school doing very well academically. She left after first semester to live at home and attend a community college while applying to schools for next fall. She had gotten into MHC last year with nice merit aid (the South Hadley town scholarship). Does anyone how how they are with merit aid for transfers? The school really isn’t an option without good merit aid (we don’t qualify for need based). She went to the transfer visit day and really could see herself there, but I haven’t heard anything about merit transfer. Any info would be appreciated! Thank you!
Anecdotally I’ve heard they’re better than most, but the best thing you could do would be to call Student Financial Services. They’re incredibly nice and helpful.
Thank you so much!
@travelfamily Hello! I’m in a similar situation to your daughter-- I received a great merit aid scholarship upon applying last year, and have applied as a transfer for this Fall in an attempt to find a better fit then my current university. Did you ever find an answer to your question? It would really help me begin to make plans.
@cmlew99 We were told that she would still be eligible for scholarships. I’m hoping they send out decisions shortly. She still has to send in her mid year grades and one teacher is holding that up because he has been cancelling classes. So, I don’t know if they are waiting for the mid year grades or what. She has another acceptance somewhere else, but is just waiting to see what Mt. Holyoke says before she gives a final answer.
Hi, @travelfamily -
I read one of your posts on a previous thread and wanted to contact you so I just signed up with CC. I also just found out that new members can’t send posts until they have 15 posts. Is there any chance you would PM me? I think my son is considering the school your child has left, so I wanted to reach out. I hope her transfer search is going well. Thanks!
