I was accepted into UC Davis as a sophomore transfer and plan to switch majors to managerial economics. I am thinking whether I should stay another year at community college and TAG to UCSB Accounting and Economics as a junior transfer or go to UCDavis as a sophomore. What do you guys think?
Well the amount of money you save by going to a community college an extra year surely helps.
Junior college is not something to look down upon. Take as many GEs as possible, save yourself a lot of money, improve your chances to transfer in, and get used to the college experience versus finding out the hard way about real college life.
This is tough and there are a lot of factors to take into account, including many personal ones. There are, of course, the normal things to consider:
Cost
Ability to get into your desired major at your desired school
Would it be easy/feasible to switch into managerial econ at Davis? Have you looked into it?
Would you prefer to do UCSB Accounting/Economics?
It wouldn’t necessarily be a bad idea to stay another year at CC, if you were to transfer now you would also be in a good position. I think it should depend most on cost (if that’s a factor with financial aid, etc) and possibly more importantly which program you’d like to be in more than the other.
