Sophomore year: Single or double dorm room?

I am going to be a sophomore next year and will be living in a suite with 4 other girls. I was given the option to live in a double room with my friend or to have a single room by myself. I already had a roommate freshman year so I don't need that (not so nice) experience again. The problem with sharing a room with my one friend is that she has been getting on my nerves quite frequently. On the other hand I'm not sure that I would want to be alone in the single which is quite a bit more expensive. Does anyone have some suggestions or advice on my situation? I can't decide what to do! Thanks!

If expense is an issue, go for the double. Otherwise, if you really feel like you won’t be lonely and bored in a single, I would go for that. Sometimes you just really need a place all to yourself that you can go hide out in after a particularly stressful class.

Get a single

Single dorms close to a friend’s dorm room are ALWAYS better. There are times when you need to unwind and be alone, and thats what your room will be for. I have been stressed throughout the time I was in the dorms just because I couldn’t properly unwind. It took me a while to pin point the reason but yeah, single rooms are much better.

If the money isn’t an issue, single all the way. No matter how much you like a person, everyone needs alone time, and its kind of hard to get that whenever you want when you are living in a double. It isn’t freshman year where a roommate is nice to have for the purpose of meeting new people together. You already have your group of friends presumably, so you can just invite them over or go and hang out at their rooms.
