Does anyone have any info on specific sororities at LSU? My daughter will be an incoming freshman there this fall and wants to go thru recruitment.

Personally I think the best information should be no information. You want her to find the house that best fits her - the one where she feels most comfortable. Very often, girls get caught up in trying to rush the “best” house. The best house is the one where she feels happiest and the most comfortable. I think the fact that she knows nothing is perfect. Let her go through rush and discover each house on her own. Just my opinion, of course…

Tell your daughter to check out GreekChat.com. It has all the information she’ll ever need about the ins and outs of rush. ITA with the previous poster - it’s better to go in to rush (or “recruitment” as they call it now) with an open mind. Also, if you have an alumnae Panhellenic Conference nearby, she should contact them. They can be very helpful.

I guess I am dating myself by using the term rush… As if I didn’t feel old enough with my youngest graduating in a week. hahaha

On many campuses, people still say “rush,” although “recruitment” may be the formal term.

I think your daughter should make an effort to investigate non-sorority life, too. There is no “rush” for being independent, but students need to find out about what life is like for non-sorority members as well as for those in sororities.
