I know that I want to rush my freshman year, but I just don't think that I could pay over 2000 every semester to be in a sorority. My top choice is DG because I'm a legacy, but can anyone inform me on semester dues for recent years? (2011 2012)

there’s actually a website about the whole greek thing, which is as active as CC is. I’m trying to recall, maybe if you pm MizzBee? she knows these things. but, you only have two posts and can’t pm.

I’ll try to pm her for you.

honestly you’re going to pay well more over 2,000 your first semester but it does get cheaper as the years go by

and honestly dg is in the ****ters now.
the website is
collegiateacb.com
just prowl around.
dg is dropping fast

no that is NOT the site.

It’s called greek chat. That other site is a slander site and only the most insecure girls look at it.

UF sorority life is very vibrant and recommendation letters are required.

Greekchat is a great place to learn about it. There are several posts about Florida recruitment. The best place to get cost is by contact the school’s Panhellenic website or calling them. They are happy to answer your questions.

All houses offer sisterhood, and that is what it is all about. go in with an open mind with plenty of preparation (rec letters, comfort with small talk) and you will get something out of the experience. Though Greek Life may not be for everyone, it is worth exploring, as it can be a big part of campus life.

I’m currently a freshman in a chapter at UF and I can answer any questions you have. Letters are not required. In fact, the chapters I got called back to after Round 2 were the ones that I didn’t have letters for. And I know multiple girls who did not have any letters. I highly recommend rushing. It’s seriously the best decision I ever made! And I’m paying for it by myself. It’s really hard, and the first semester is the most expensive, but it’s worth it! :)

^Also, MizzBee is right. Go in with an open mind. You might think you want to be a DG just because you’re a legacy, but you SHOULD NOT base your decision on that. Just because a family member fit into the dynamic of that chapter when they were in school does not mean you will. There’s a girl in my pledge class that was a legacy at DG, but she felt she fit in with the girls in our chapter better. And she’s really happy! I’m not saying you won’t fit in DG but keep that in mind!

Heybails…LOVE YOU!! <3 Carrying on the legacy of awesome Panhellenic love!

And to the OP, I also pay for my dues myself, and yes it is very hard but when it is for something as incredible and priceless as being a part of a Panhellenic sorority, it is absolutely worth it. As for DG, heybails said it better than I ever could; keep an open mind! I had a very strong legacy to a chapter that I didn’t click with, and ended up choosing a different one. :)

heyyy guys! I’m a freshie right now at UF and I want to spring rush! Does anyone know how it works? Also I know you guys were talking about the cost of dues so how could someone give me a ballpark range as to how much it is per semester? I really want to join just because I want a good group of girls to hang out with so please help! :)

Hey Krivera! I’m so excited for you that you’re considering spring rush! Personal Message me for more details about money and such, I’d love to talk with you about it but it’s kinda personal for the main boards, but basically this is the run-down so far:

Spring recruitment is for all women interested in becoming a part of the Panhellenic community. Come meet the women at their chapter houses!
You MUST register for Spring Recruitment at or before the information session.

When?
Sunday, Jan 27

Where?
The information session is at the Reitz Union Auditorium, 2nd floor, from 8:30am - 10:30 am.
The actual recruitment will take place at the individual sorority houses for the rest of the day, from 1pm - 7pm.

You MUST attend both the information session and the actual recruitment.

All of the above comes right from the informational poster, I just copied it. Basically you will be attending an information session where they explain recruitment to you, and then you’ll attend each participating house and kinda hang out, see the house, and meet the sisters. It’s much more informal than fall recruitment, and I like spring recruitment a lot!

Hope to hear from you, and GOOD LUCK!

Just messaged you! Sorry for the delay! I haven’t been on here in a while
