Hey everyone! I’m planning on transferring to UF as a junior and I really want to be part of a sorority there. I’m currently at a school in the north and greek life really isn’t very popular so I never rushed. I know that sorority rush requires a lot of time and money, as well as moving in early at UF, and I was wondering if it would be worth it to rush as a junior. I’ve heard that it makes it a lot more difficult to get a bid but I thought I’d put this out there to get some thoughts. It’s something I would definitely want to do if its at all possible.
Hey @razzledazzle88! I would highly recommend joining a sorority, or at least going through the recruitment process. It’s a great way to make friends and get involved on campus, and many upperclassmen join chapters. Also, don’t worry about it being more difficult because there’s a separate quota for upperclassmen. This means you won’t be “competing” against freshmen for a bid. Even if you’re on the fence, I would still go through recruitment. You’re under no obligation to accept any bid you receive, and you could join the chapter for a couple weeks before you fully commit at initiation.
