I always hear the term "rushing" for a frat or sorority and i got an email saying i have to register and theres a $35 fee, in order to "rush" do i have to register online first and pay that fee before i can do anything else!?

Alpha Phi is hot, Chi Omega has girls actually going somewhere, Theta is RICH, Tri-Delta is uhhhh biggg (as in big-boned), Delta Gamma is mixed. Just some info.

Frats: AEPi if ur a jew, Lambdas if ur asian or is white but got an asian complex, Beta for the big parties, Sig. Nu and Sig. Chi are your typical frats, ZBT if you wanna be able to find a party everyday of the week, PIKE if you wanna get laid (does NOT mean rape).

I realize i didnt answer your question but just some insight from a guy who got friends in these orgs. and have personally been to many rushes.

PS I would never pay to get in on a rush. whatever that sorority is...it sounds like its trying to rip you off. OR they got really good rushes, such as hiring male hookers? not sure.

I remember someone saying here that if you join a frat/sorority that you are basically paying people to be your friends. You even have to pay monthly fees from $100 and up just to continue to stay in the frat/sorority. Who has the money/time for that kind of crap. Just crash parties and make friends.

lol thanks for the tip haterofhaters. Im just curious about the experience being in one and yes i have heard people saying its buying friends but I don't see it that way but can someone help answer my question please

i thought i answered ur question in the PS

to mobilemayhem, $100 per month is CHEAP. it goes from 450 per quarter (cheapest) to $195 per month to like 600-700 per quarter.

some join frats for connections, etc. and the "bonding" exp. which i personally dont get, how can you bond after they break all hell loose on you during hell week?

city123, yes you have to pay for the application before you can rush. you can do it for 35 dollars online before the 14th or after that date but then it will cost 55 dollars. that's what it says on the ucla greek site.

so MY question to anyone in a sorority or who has a friend in a sorority is about how much does it really cost to be in a sorority but not living in the house? i hear it is expensive but about how much?

hmmm its so strange becuz ive been asking around and people think its really weird to pay to rush and most people are telling me that i don't have to..soo weird..

well if you're a guy i'm not sure how that works. but for a sorority you DO pay to fill out the application before rush begins. it's 35 dollars if you apply before sept. 14th and 55 if you decide to do it later.

As I recall, my daughter's sorority dues were around $2400 for the year she did not live in the house. Living in the house she saved double that each year over the cost of the dorms, so it more than paid for itself. Joining a sorority was one of the best things she did at UCLA! A lot of groups and activities people take part in have dues and fees. Your are not buying friends. You are joining a group where you can make friends as well as take part in many social, sports, leadership and philanthropy activities that you may not otherwise have the opportunity to. I'm sure sororities are not for every girl, but if you decide to rush look for a sorority that you can see yourself belonging to and wanting to be a part of. Look at them honestly, not by stereotypes or who is most popular. That way, you will find one that you will enjoy and where you will be happy and comfortable.

in spring, you don't pay for rush. that's just fall.
