Sorry to everyone that I offended. I didn't know that one thread was for one person, it's my first time on a forum, so I apologize. But anyways, can you guys please help me and chance me?

Well, I'm gonna be a junior in August. I so far have a very crappy SAT score. I have ~1550. I am the top 5 in all of my classes. Freshmen and sophomore year, I had a 4.0 GPA, weighted it should be ~4.17. I have 5 clubs that I am in and I am an officer in one of them.

What do you think my chances are to get a 2000 my the 2008 March test date? What should I do?

My cousin went to USC but don't know if that's considered as alumni or not.

are u doing bad on the CR, M, or W?
if you are in state for the UC's then instead of berkeley, ucla could be a better fit since their scores are a little bit lower yet the school is still really good. IN STATE though

I wrote it in my thread. I am planning on taking it on the March test date. So do you think it's possible to raise 500 points by that time? As you can see from above, my scores are really crappy. I'm a straight A student but I just suck at standardized tests. Any way I can raise 500 points?

well... i have 400, 500, and 630 (CR, W, M) It was what I got the first time I ever took SAT. Not the actual one, one of the practice ones from collegeboard.

i see. well during my sophomore year i had a 55/69/56 on my PSAT for CR/M/W.
and i ended up getting national merit with a 212 and a 2200 on the sat. the CR problems are tough to crack. what u wanna do is use a lot of common sense and make urself really wanna read the passages. and memorize a lot of vocab is another way. i increased my CR score from a 55 to 65 in one year and then to a 670 and a 700 on the SAT.

well ive never seen a +500 before but for me i had a 180 on PSAT to 2200 to sat which is like a +400. so i'd say a +500 is reasonable if u work hard and happen to get a lil luck ;)

thank you! what you said gives me a little more confidence. Now I actually have confidence that I'll be able to raise 500 points. BTW, did you ever use the practice book, barrons? Is it good? Compared with collegeboard tests and the actual SAT, how is the difficulty range?

what i did was really study both my psat's and look carefully at what i did wrong. it helped a lot. u will probably feel a lot more confident after the PSAT. try shooting for around 180-190 first. then go from there. the first jump is always the easiest. then the final few points are really hard.

but remember, i think those schools u listed also need subject tests

I see, I know that I have to take subject tests. I'm more worried about the SAT reasoning test rather than the subject tests right now. Is the PSAT similar to the SAT? format and difficulty range

good luck. with the ways things are going i think u will be getting into all 5 schools. Upenn is not THAT farfetched. i think u will do just fine.also, if u get national merit, USC gives half tuition. but i think it 225 for the cutoff there so thats pretty hard. give it a shot though!
