Hey CC,
So there’s this major at a regional campus that I’m interested in - Small Business Management. However, the complete name of this major is “Bachelor of Science in Commerce”.
I’ve never seen “in Commerce” in any other major title. Is this just the name this regional campus is giving multiple degress in that subject? Is it just as prestigious as a “Bachelor in Science” in something? I don’t know if there’s a difference between the two. Here’s the link to the program:

Help please! Thanks!
First of all, ignore the BA vs. BS. Which one the degree is called is usually arbitrary, and a BS doesn’t have more prestige than a BA. Most employers don’t even notice or care.
This sounds to me just like any other degree title - like a Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering (BSE) or a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts (BFA) or something like that. Usually these kinds of degree titles indicate that the degree focuses less on a well-rounded liberal arts & sciences education, like a BA or BS would, and more on career/vocational education. It implies that the student would take fewer general education classes and more classes in the area. However, that’s all implication - because that might not be the case at all.
The BSC isn’t necessarily any different from getting a BA or BS in business administration. Look at the curriculum itself and the classes you’d be required to take rather than just the name of the degree.
Thank you much! Very helpful
