you should worry about the picture! at least give something that is presentable and is easy on the eye. I tell you when I did my transfer day and I met Columbia for the first time, the rep was very good looking and I could tell she was giving me a look over when I was talking to her. She even sent me a hand written follow up thank you letter and application fee waiver after talking to her and giving her friendly smiles for like five minutes. When I went to the information session like two weeks later, there was another rep but better looking and she gave me the twice over, she also sent me a handwritten thank you note. I know those two girls work in the same office back at Columbia so they are going to talk.

I don't really know what happened because nobody gave me a chance for getting into Columbia back in the day and I did. I think word spread around the adcom office that I was a stud or something. I remember sending them a great looking photo of me that captured my studliness for the girls to remember me by as means of a thank you, because flat out it was those two girls who liked my image enough that got me in. This just maybe my perception on life, but it works for me and helps me advance. Point is worry about the image you present to the world or at least look like you care. Question is why you would not look your best all the time when it really is not all that much effort, it is a display of how much you care that can be easily judged. Just be a positive image and things will bound to go your way is what I learned.

Sometimes in the real world the biggest obstacle is getting past the secretary a friendly smile and good looks does it almost every time.

LMAO about that picture, an Asian playing football in the mud and rain, I think he ought to get accepted just for that he’s probably 1 in 3 billion. How many of you separated yourself from billions of people by means of a visual in your app? Shoot, I'd hire him just because he's got the nuts to do that.

^Hahahahaha that was the most arrogant and ridiculously stupid post ever (in my opinion).

Kind of funny though.

Hey, we just do things different in Texas.

"Hahahahaha that was the most arrogant and ridiculously stupid post ever (in my opinion)."

Don't be hatin' on the real playas. Gotta stop sippin' on that Haterade. Let us do our thang, ya feel me? Jk. :)

Haha fair enough...

It's funny because columboplaya makes his story sound as if he's going clubbin or something, but no he's actually going to a Columbia University admission session....

I bet he's on HotOrNot.com :D

hey I graduated and I live the single life style in San Antonio, That dude was right you have been drinking the haterade. I am not on hot or not. I have been charming my way through life since my Mom spit me out of the womb. I'm telling you don't mess with the Texas way of life, it's the greatest.

the single life, eh? 1999 alumni, that makes you about 31 years old, right? i'm not one to judge, but being a "playa" in your thirties just doesn't seem that cool to me. While you may have a valid point about presenting a good image of oneself, the excessive mentioning of your alluring womanizing abilities seems a little overstated and ironically invalidated by the medium through which you're relating these abilities of yours--a college forum for HS seniors. But whatever floats your boat, man. If you're happy, then that's cool. Also, please don't take this comment to be a subtle form of "messing with Texas," since I bear no grudges against pieces of land.

^Well said. I totally agree with maintaining a good image, but the need to tell everyone about your looks makes you sound either arrogant or insecure. Anyway, I think this discussion is getting off topic. :D

Columbia is the only Ivy (I believe) and the only Tier-1 school that I know of that gives you the option of uploading a picture. I wonder why they haven't done away with that practice like many of its peers have.

^^^ penn has the "picture" option availble on its app., too.

Wait you're a girl and you were shirtless??? LMAO!!!

not only does penn, but pomona college (a "tier-1" school) also have this option..and those are only schools that i've personally looked into. i'm sure there are others. its not a deciding factor of whether or not you'll be admitted to the school. god knows that they don't base it on good looks if any of you have actually been the columbia's campus.

^ !! Oh no, are Columbians not attractive?

yes, that would be what he just implied. keen observation, though.

siddharthdhami, I'm a guy lol.

I heard about this website through the grapevine, so what if I'm 31, a graduate and living the single life. I honestly believe with technology advancing the way it is we are going to live to 120 years old. 40 is the new 20. Once you graduate you can literally write your own ticket and I choose to be the way I am because that's who I am. If your not true to yourself, how can you really know yourself. Being who I am has gotten me fairly far in life, and seriously Texas is it's own world, it's own communial being, something most people don't understand til their mid twenties. For example our state government placed "Don't mess with TEXAS" road signs across the entire state. We just have different mindset out here, one with a lot of testosterone and it's accepted that way. I thought this was college kids and alumni so I apologize for not recgonizing the audience.

To: The Girls Love ME

After you graduate, go to Texas. That behavior is part of the norm. Being a smart Asian who likes football and has the balls to do what you did, will be very successful out here, probably more so than any where else.

ROFL to above poster. I'm actually dying.
