My sons last college class is averaging an 79

He has a 3.16 gpa
If he doesn't get a 3.0 he will have to repay 14k

What does he have to make to get a 3.0?

He's thinking of dropping the class but that will cause all kinds of difficulties for next year

Can someone crunch the numbers so I can tell him?

He will graduate with 124 hours total for his BA

You didn’t post enough information to do the calculation but he should do the calculation himself with the assistance of the academic counseling office to make sure he’s doing all the calculations correctly.

Regardless, as long as he tries to do as well as he can in his courses he’ll end up with the highest GPA he can. The only other factor is whether dropping a particular course, if permitted and still qualify for the scholarship, might help with the GPA.

Again - he needs to discuss it with the appropriate offices at the college.

^ agree with GladGradDad. Have your S visit the academic counseling office. I’m sure there’s an acceptable solution. Good luck.

Really frustrating experience overall, might as well not offer advising in the English dept.
No returned emails, no phone calls, doesn’t take apps. at this time, just walk ins next Monday, the day he has to decide.
And no guarantee hell see his advisor, usually some other person.
