SOS!!! what are my chances??

okay, I know I don’t have a great GPA, i experienced a lot during my first year of high school (no excuse). Anyway, I have taken 7 honors classes and 5 AP classes. I am hoping the number of my AP/Honors courses helps my low GPA. I have a 3.15 unweighted GPA and a 3.36 weighted. I received a 24 on the ACT on my first try, I just took the ACT last Saturday. I have participated in several clubs. I am the president of National Art Honors Society at my school, an officer of Crusading Knights (a club in which we do community service) and team member for Interact. In Interact, we help in the community as well. I have done over 50 hours of community service in the past year, I have helped out at the local elderly home, hospital, food kitchen and cleaned up our stadium following our football games. I don’t know if this matters but I am hispanic. OH SUGAR, I FORGOT to put my college. MY list: Mississippi State University, Penn State, University of Oklahoma, Florida State University, Purdue, Texas A&M, University of Hawaii!!

Chances to where?

Edited the post, colleges are added.

Your GPA is not drop dead awful for these colleges, and your community service will help you. Your ACT could change your entire app, wait to get that score.

I think you will have a decent chance in getting into your ideal universities.

What state do you live in? Can you afford the out of state tuition at these schools?

thank you for replying @super5000ify and @intparent. Intparent I think we could pay for a good portion, I live in Georgia, and if I get a 26+ on the ACT, how much better position would I be in??

You would likely have to pay out of state tuition at every one of these schools. Go look at the websites and run the net price calculators on the sites to see what you would be expected to pay. You can generally expect little or no financial aid from a public school in another state. Their focus and their financial aid are primarily for the kids of their state taxpayers who fund the schools. Some schools might grant in-state tuition for high test scores, but you will have to look at each school’s website to see if there is any info on this. I can’t see that a 26 will probably help you much.

You need to take a harder look at Georgia public schools.

PLEASE RESPOND!!

You’ll get into the University of Oklahoma. Whether you can afford it or not is a different question.

@whenhen OU is my number one school, so hopefully I get in. Also, do you go there?

Yes. I’m a junior.

Nice!! @whenhen how do you like it??

I enjoy the school. If you’d like a more in depth discussion about my thoughts regarding OU, feel free to PM me.

Purdue is a stretch

1° What is your parents’ budget? Those universities will cost you 40K+ a year. You’re not eligible for state financial aid since they’re OOS for you and you can’t get merit with 24-26. You can borrow $5,500. Add this to your parents’ budget: what can you afford?
2° Apply to Georgia Southern (but beware, the graduation rate is abysmal because too many students spend time at the bars accross the road), Georgia State, Kennesaw.
3° If you want to go out of state, apply to Appalachan State, University of South Carolina, University of Alabama, University of South Florida, Florida Atlantic. THERE you have a chance. Run the Net Price Calculator
4° Mississippi State University = match
Penn State =match for Altoona, Erie, Harrisburg, reach for University Park even with DUS/Summer
University of Oklahoma = match
Florida State University = unlikely
Purdue unlikely
Texas A&M= unlikely
University of Hawaii = ??? match but … WHY?
