Soulja Boy Dance at Dances?

I was wondering what is everyone's opinion of the Crank Dat Soulja Boy dance? I know now it's kinda old, but do you think it is a mindless, stupid dance that is repetitive, has no talent or thought behind it, and has lyrics that make no sense? Or do you think it is a good way to get people to get pumped up, involved in one dance that most people know, and have fun at the same time?

My opinion would be that it is a good way to get everyone involved in one dance and have fun at the same time, even though it is overplayed and I'm not sure what the lyrics mean.

The lyrics are about ejaculating on a woman in various ways. The dance has been called "the rap macarena".

People will dance to anything.

Honestly, it's a bit of both.

It's a mindless, repetitive dance that pumps people up. By now we should be able to understand that only mindless and repetitive things will get people pumped up. I.E. Cheers, macarena, who let the dogs out (singing, but you catch my drift).

Hmmmm...before Soulja Boy I thought it wasn't possible to dance to something other than music. I was proved wrong.

I have a friend who acts/looks JUST like Soulja Boy. It's kinda scary.

Yeah, I agree that most people like repetitive, catchy songs (with matching repetitive dance move). Why else would Walk it out, Lean with it rock with it, or Shake that laffy taffy be so popular?

Yeah, just shows that more records sales =/= better material.

Both. Is it a good, well-written song with a message? No. Is it a good dance song? Yes.

I also agree that it's both. It's a stupid song, but people know it and it gets them going. I also think it's funny. Actually, I went to a school play choreographed by the students tonight and...well...they somehow incorporated that dance to a completely different non-rap (musical theater) song.

It's funny, because some of the moves in the dance are from the Electric Slide (aka Square Dancing)...I tried to do it at a school dance and failed miserably, but some others new how to do it so it was awesome. I agree with Son of Opie, it's like the rap macarena.

i just looked up "Superman that hoe" 2 days ago...according to urbandictionary, "when you ejaculate on a girls back then put a blanket on her so when she stands up the blanket sticks therefore making her look like she has a cape. " so she looks like superman hahaha

lol soulja boy

"Wait 'till white people figure out what that means. Oh skeet skeet goddamn!"

-Dave Chapelle

ha, this whole question could apply to techno. Soulja Boy, Laffy Taffy, Cupid Shuffle etc. are dance songs. They're meant to be danced to. Just like one wouldn't willingly listen to techno without dancing/raving to it, one wouldn't be expected to listen to a specified dance song completely by itself.

It caters towards club culture.

Urban Dictionary #1 definition for "Superman dat hoe":
"when you ejaculate on a girls back then put a blanket on her so when she stands up the blanket sticks therefore making her look like she has a cape."

Soulja Boy is nothing but a one-hit wonder. All of his songs are the same lyrics repeated over and over again an adding in OOOOOOO UUUUUUUU OOOOOOOOO UUUUUUUUUU OOOOOOOOOOO UUUUUUUUUUU SUPAMAN!

It's catchy, but it's gross. SO many people have no clue what it means- I think you should have an idea before you dance to it.
