South and Southeast Asian Studies at Berkeley

Hello, I was thinking of studying the South and Southeast Asian studies major at UC Berkeley but I'm not sure how useful it would be in finding employment. To give you some background information I can already speak and read 2 southeast asian languages, Thai and Lao. I was thinking of taking the language route and they have Indonesian, Khmer, Vietnamese and Thai available for study.

I also have dual US-Thai citizenship and they are opening up the ASEAN union so I was thinking I might be able to use a major like this to my advantage. I was wondering if with my current skills I would be able to find a job? Would this major be useless? Anyone else taking this major? Anyone want to recommend other majors that would be better suited for me?

The languages are basically useful tools IF you have skills in another area. Those other skill areas would be fields like economics (including ag & resource economics), business, or law, some of which would require graduate study. There are many people with both language skills + skills in a professional field. These include not only other Americans, but also Australians and Europeans.
