DD has seen pics of rooms at south campus and wonders if they are as small as the pics seem to indicate. Any students from Shoreland or other dorms who have had a peek care to share any information about the south campus rooms and the building overall?

The Housing website says South doubles average 10’ by 20’. Comparatively, Max doubles are 10’ by 12’ and Pierce doubles are 9’ by 11’.

So, I’d say they’re comparatively large, though still way too small for me (I applied for/was assigned a single in BJ).

If you’re asking about the size of single rooms–the website doesn’t say.

Room sizes vary, so hope you get a good one!

Do you know if we are able to loft the beds in South Campus? And if so, how high would they be able to go?

From what I gather, yes, it is allowed in Max, but no one knows what the specific rules will be in the South Campus hall. My guess (and most other peoples’ guesses) was that yes, it will be allowed, and that student can put in a work order to have a university employee loft the bed.

Here’s where I got my information from:

…Ok, the link didn’t quite work. I went to the University of Chicago Class of 2013 group, and found the ‘Lofting Beds’ topic on the discussion boards.
