South Carolina Governor's School Summer Program Cancelled for 2009

Any other states experiencing this problem. Such a great program, cancelled due to budget cuts statewide:

"It is with great sorrow that I must announce that the Governor’s School of South Carolina at the College of Charleston will be suspended for this year due to the current financial climate and the severe cuts in the state allocation to the College of Charleston. We hope that financial conditions will make it possible for the Governor’s School to resume in the future, but at this time we do not know when or if this will be possible. It is indeed regrettable that such an important and successful program to help educate some of the best and brightest students from across South Carolina must now close its doors."

This is a step in the wrong direction. What are South Carolina's priorities if not education? It is amazing how much money can be privately raised for political campaigns & how little for education.

Oh wow. And I thought it was insane that NJ cancelled their Gov School of the Arts this year. :c
