I'm applying to many southern schools from Connecticut & I wanted to know my chances.

I have a 3.62 GPA at a relatively competitive public school and have taken 3 honors courses and 6 APS.

i'm exclusively applying regular decision due to financial reasons.

My top school is either Vanderbilt or Tufts which i believe are big reaches.

Other southern schools are

Emory (our school has a good relationship with emory but i am also applying to oxford and i heard that if you're on the edge between oxford and emory and are applying to both, you'll be more likely to get rejected from emory and accepted to oxford than someone who is exclusively applying to emory.

UVA (two people have gotten accepted from my high school in the last five years)

University of Richmond ( i thought this was only a moderate reach but i heard its practically impossible to get in regular decision here)

Tulane

Wakeforest
(typically very few people from my high school get accepted here)

oh also,
my sat score is a 2060 and i’m captain for one sport, do sports year round, member of some national honor societies, treasurer of a club, essay is good, and i won a college award for academics/community service

my guidance counselor added some of these schools but im thinking now that there is a good chance i get rejected from 100% of these…

SAT SUBJECT TESTS:
660 lit 670 bio
AP Tests:
5 Lit 3 Bio

Did a habitat for humanity community service project in virginia during break

CAPT Scholar, recs are hard to tell (one’s from my chinese teacher of 4 years who doesn’t speak english very well, the others from my english teacher)

All As or A-s this quarter, and applying to East Asian Studies Major

(legacy at tufts, no where else)

White female income of at about 150+ for 4 people

How much preference does Tufts give to Legacy kids? If they give a huge advantage to legacy, maybe then a chance at Tufts.

UVA, Vanderbilt - high reaches
Wake Forest, U of Richmond, Emory - Reach
Oxford, Tulane - Low Reaches

Do all of the school require the SAT IIs? Lose them if possible. It’s a tough call on reporting the AP scores. You want to report the 5, but ignore the 3 and you can’t report just one of them because it will look fishy. For Tulane, really play up the community service. It is very important for them. Good luck

UVA is almost impossible to get into OOS. The in state rate is somewhere between 30-45% while the OOS rate is around 14-25%. Your GPA is a little low for them but your SAT is good so you stand a chance

Vanderbilt relies heavily on the SAT and GPA so you’re probably a reach there

I don’t know anything about Tufts

Wake is nice, they generally want more well rounded students so you could be a match/low reach there. They also are sat optional.

U of R accepts a lot of students from up north. Your SAT is in there range and your GPA isn’t too far off so I’d say you’re a match! they tend to be wait-list heavy tho.
