Three questions, please help!!

1). How are rooms size-wise? Is it appealing to the eye, as in no concrete walls?

2) Is Southgate really as far as everyone is making it out to be (40 days and 40 nights trek)?

3) There are wellness people living in the dorm so will I be subjected to the activites they do and the wellness contract, because I did not request wellness? I'm quite a drinker.

haha way to advertise... i've actually heard stories of people that lived in brown this last year getting taken to the hospital for stomach pumping... You will not be in a hall with them if that is what you requested. Also, keep in mind that that all alcohol is banned from east campus because it is the freshman campus, and no freshman are of age. Most people that party go to clubs/bars or to west campus, with the occasional small gathering of friends on east for pregaming... or what not.

as for southgate, it might win the award for the ugliest dorm on east campus from the outside. on the inside it is not too bad however. it is quite a hike to everything important on east campus, but it is very doable and not worthy of getting complaints.

I lived in brown. I liked southgate, they had a big TV and super smash brothers melee, which no one played on weekends because they were out partying. So chill about the drinking thing. You can drink all you want (well considering its not legal). Southgate has its own basketball court thing and several common rooms. It is far though.

You will not be submitted to the wellness thing. All year i did not meet a single person from southgate who would willingly admit to being in wellness.

yea...the end

oh and the kid in brown who got his stomach pumped was not actually a resident but a friend of some guys in the dorm who got completely wasted on LDOC and the guys brought back to their room.

well thanks for the clarification :)

i posted about sg on one of the other threads. but to reiterate... i had to find this info out last summer when the majority of my faclets called me freaking out about being accidentally placed in the wellness facility.

if you did not sign up for the program, you will not be forced to participate. their rules will not be imposed on you. (i think this also means that none of your roommates are participating in the wellness activity). i guess there are some sort of sports courts or yoga rooms or whatever in sg, and even though you're not in the wellness facility, you're still welcome to use them as long as they're open... i mean, i',m pretty positive whatever event the wellness group is having (whether its some exercise-y thing, or a healthy snack, or whatever they do) you're welcome to attend, but clearly, you don't need to. three of my faclets admitted to being in wellness. whatever. it's a choice one makes.

last year, and my freshman year, the floors in sg were single sex. the rooms are pretty big... there are a lot of triples. but i think the sg doubles were the biggest doubles out of any of my friends freshman year. there aren't any cinderblock walls... there's long wide hallways (so RAs can get kind of anal when it comes to playing games in the hallways since its so inviting). it is sort of a walk from campus, but there is a busstop on the route to west right near ga (which is nextdoor to sg) which makes things better. i mean, i for one can't complain about being far away from things, since first year i lived in pegram.

1) Rooms are great, you'll almost definitely have a bigger room freshman year than you will sophmore year because southgate is generally large, and it has the largest hallways of any dorm or maybe even any building outside of the hospital in the campus.

2) No. We're talking an added 90-120 seconds of walking from the East Campus busstop vs. one of the closer dorms. It does make a bit of a difference as far as getting to the Marketplace, which is further, but hundreds of students have dealt with it without issue every year from the backyard quad.

3) No.

unless you are me... GA dorm fresh about 180 sq ft to craven dorm soph about 235 sq ft. :)
