Hey everybody, I am trying to decide whether I should take the departmental exams in French and Spanish to satisfy the foreign language requirement.

I already took both the French and Spanish online tests, and my results were:
French = take FREN140 or Dept. Exam
Spanish = take Dept. Exam

My concerns are:
1. I scored on the lower end of the threshold for the French Dept. Exam, the score for it is 429 and I got a 438, so it might be a better idea for me to take FREN140 and not fail the dept. exam
2. The threshold for Spanish is 546, and I got a 781 - the catch is, unlike French, I never learned Spanish in school, I learned it at home so I am not as familiar with spelling and grammar, so I'm concerned I will fail the departmental exam.

If anyone has anything to recommend in terms of these two exams, and if you know anything about what the departmental exams are like, how difficult they are, and how you think I'll probably do considering my particular case with these languages, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!!!!! :D
