Spanish Class Dilemma: AP or not?

I'm taking a Spanish 4 class (this is the first year they switched it from AP Spanish to just Spanish 4). My teacher has brought up the idea to our class to switch back to the AP status for the class. I think it'd be a good idea(since our school doesn't have many APs, spanish is my best subject, and it'd be a raise in my gpa), but many people in my class don't want it as an AP bc they'll have to take a placement test in college anyway for spanish and don't want to have to pay 85 dollars to take the test.

What should I tell them? What would YOU do? The teacher is letting us decide.

do it as an AP! don’t care what other people think.

^Agreed:) .

definitely do AP!
We had the choice of calling it Spanish IV or AP…we chose AP…then again, there are 2 people in my AP Spanish class…so…

Well yeah I want it to be AP lol but everyone else doesn’t want to make it AP

Why don’t they? Do they have to take the test? At my school we have the option. Personally, I don’t comprehend as to why they wouldn’t want to change it. From what I can understand, it would be at the same level, regardless. Why not add an extra point to your GPA? Perhaps there is more to it than that though.

I’m pretty sure no one’s required to take the AP exam… it’s just highly recommended

Some schools require that students take the AP exams, and if they don’t, they automatically fail the class.

Take the AP.
You will really get fluent in the language, it’s a great skill to have.
One of the useful APs imho.
