Spanish II PAP/IB to AP Spanish Language and Culture

Hello guys I’m a freshman in Spanish II Pre-AP/IB with a 100 and 99 average, respectively. I recently (about 2 weeks ago) registered for a Credit by Exam (CBE) to skip Spanish III and got approved (I will take the test in the summer). The main reason I did this was because I wanted to get the “four year foreign language” thing out of the way once I finished my sophomore year and take electives that are more towards my interests (pre-med/natural science major) in junior and senior year. So my question is, what would AP Spanish Language and Culture (the class I will take my sophomore year) be like for someone who skipped/“self-studied” Spanish 3 (a pre-requisite to AP Spanish IV [language and culture] )? Any general thoughts, opinions, advice etc. (people currently in the class/have taken the class are preferred to respond). Thank you very much!

It would be the same as it would be if you had taken Spanish 3. You’ll need to have mastered (or come close to having mastered) all the material in Spanish 1-3, since the teacher will hit the ground running. As AP Spanish, like all AP’s, has a set curriculum, the teacher has to cover a lot of ground, so s/he will not be gearing the class to the unprepared students.

Other than that, I’m not sure what type of answer you are expecting. You can certainly ask current students in your school what the class is like.

Okay. Thank you!
