Spanish Subject Test

Hi,
For anyone who isn’t fluent/a native speaker of Spanish and also did not take AP Spanish but took the Spanish subject test, how did you do? What is the curve like? And for anyone who took the subject test that got 730ish+, was it hard to do? I really enjoy Spanish but next year, my senior year, I will only be in advanced Spanish 4. I know I can buy some prep books but I just wanted to get input from other people. Also, what are some ways to improve my fluency? Thank you!

This may not be any help but I took the French subject test as a non fluent/native speaker and found it surprisingly easy (got 790 with basically no prep). I do A Levels though and I don’t know how they compare to APs, but I’d learnt French for about 6 years (and didn’t do any work for the first 4…).

My advice is just to learn vocab, because if you don’t know a word then you are forced to rely on guessing (which you don’t want with the guessing penalty). Obviously go over grammar, but random vocab is the main thing.

I don’t know if Spanish is the same but for French you could skip about 8 questions and still get 800 (if you got the rest right), so remember that sometimes it’s really better just to leave something you don’t know than to guess.

I got 750 and am not a native Spanish speaker. I used PR and Barron’s, watched telenovelas, and memorized vocab. I also have a personal interest in Spanish and it looks like you do too, and liking it certainly helps! I’d say the hardest questions are the fill in the blank ones (the passages) and some comprehension questions.
