I was giving some practice tests in physics and Math IIC which were available on sparknotes. But, I couldn't help noticing an "obvious" mistake with the scoring of those tests...
Let me explain,
I gave some tests in the official SAT subject tests guide, and couldn't not help noticing the similarity in the scaled scores between that and those of sparknotes.
Heres the prob,
Let me explain..For example, on the Sat study guide, a total raw score of 33 is 680 (leaving 17 blank)...While, on sparknotes, suppose you get 33 correct and the remaining wrong (33-17/4), your raw score (29 in this case) is converted into a 680, while it should be a 640...
I know this could also depend on the difficulty of the test but it has happend to me like 10 times, I'm sure its not a coincidence...
Basically, what I'm trying to say is that, the sparknotes score which you receive after a test doesn't account for the wrong answers you give, hence, It doesn't minus the appropriate amount from your score to give you the scaled score.
Do you think sparknotes made such a humongous mistake?
Could somebody please clarify (if you understood me that is ;-)??

i took a sparknotes practice test and got a raw score of 29 (33 right, 15 wrong), but it says thats a 590 scaled?

The sparknotes score is a good indicator. I got the same thing on the real test as I did on the sparknotes practice

I don't know too much about the Sparknotes scoring but I do know that when I was taking their practice tests for the Math IIC I kept scoring pretty low in comparison to what I was expecting (in the 600s)...but maybe that's because I wasn't concentrating. Anyways, when I took the actual test I did much better (770).

Sorry if my story was sort of random. :]
