Basically I need a new pair of sneakers, and it makes more sense to buy them in CA rather than lug across the country.

What are some sporting goods stores not too far from campus (I'm boring and wear the typical brands)?

I know there’s a small sport store right across from the track. It’s right on the corner (Berkeley Sporting Goods?)

There’s also a Foot Locker in Oakland about 5 or 6 miles south of campus. Just take the 1R down to Broadway and 14th St.

Why not yelp it?

[Sports store Berkeley | Yelp](http://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=sports+store&find_loc=Berkeley%2C+CA)

Srsly, how much room does a pair of sneakers take?

There’s also a Shiekh on Telegraph. They sell some Nikes and Jordans. I’m a sneakerhead, so I have to get my locations down lol

What about a store that sells sports equipment?

What kind of equipment are you after?

Tennis (strings, grips, dampeners, balls)
Also any place that restrings rackets?

Swimming (caps, goggles)

Thanks everyone, will look into those (:

More room than I have in my luggage. After all it can’t be that the same pair of shoes are $15 more expensive in CA than in DC (the price to check another bag), however high sales tax may be.

“Berkeley Sports” is on Bancroft opposite the Edwards Field (track stadium). It more or less specializes in tennis and running, so if you need a place that’s close by that offers re-stringing services, this is it. IIRC, for the standard Duraflex Prince strings, it’s $25 with the price of stringing included. In the past I have gone to SportMart (now Sports Authority) in Emeryville, but only because I had a car and worked a couple of blocks from there.
