<p>Where do you shop? Where's the good stuff at?</p>
<p>I shop back home cuz it’s cheaper. Old Navy, mostly. But the only clothing stores I found in Berkeley are university ones and Hot Topic on telegraph</p>

<p>I take it you’re looking for cheap. I heard people go to the thrift store (Out of The Closet down University? idk…I’ve never been though) and stuff, but I grew up in Alameda, and used to get pretty good deals in the ross/TJ Maxx…down there. There’s also a HUGE ross in SF…along with all those other stores xD.</p>
<p>Check the sales papers! Doubt many of the good places are around campus though.</p>
<p>If you’re okay with formerly used clothing, check out Crossroads Trading Co (not to be confusing with the much worse dining hall, Crossroads…) on Shattuck Avenue. Despite the fact that they’re used clothes, the clothes are good quality, pretty fashionable, you really can’t tell that they’ve been used, and are fairly cheap. At least, it’s probably the best price you’ll get in Berkeley close to campus. That’s only from checking out the women’s side of the store, but the men’s side is decent too, I’d assume.</p>
<p>Honestly, if you want to get really cheap, semi-quality stuff, you’ll have to use the bus pass like someone else suggested and head over to Target (think it’s in Emeryville? which is not too far from here, but not within walking distance)</p>
<p>Madewell, Madewell, Madewell – if you’re female. High quality goods for reasonable prices, particularly when there’s a sale and a promo on top of it all. They have fantastic jeans and incredibly warm, cozy sweaters and knits. Their shoes are all leather, extremely durable, and will look amazing on. I would guess that approximately 50-60% of my wardrobe comes from Madewell.</p>
<p>Also, if you show up with a student ID card, you get 15% off your entire purchase! </p>
<p>Thrift stores and consignment shops are always a good idea. There’s one thrift shop on Telegraph next to this Indian restaurant that has always been my go-to for flannels, jackets, and vintage denim.</p>
<p>I don’t like Urban Outfitters, but they have some high-quality patterned camp socks out right now that I’ve been stocking up on. J. Crew’s microstripe tipped socks are excellent quality as well.</p>
<p>I often shop Army surplus shops for field jackets (size xxs or xs), duffle bags, and insanely warm wool blankets. </p>
<p>Great online shops: Need Supply Co (aggregate of many brands of clothing), Lamb & Flag, Lotuff Clegg (great leather goods), Oak NYC, Union Made Goods (fantastic Navajo print socks that always sell out), Sierra Trading Post, Best Made Goods, Brook Farm (little kitschy necessities like handmade sea salt bar soap and hand knit wool scarves), Hickoree’s Hard Goods, Fjallraven (the iconic kanken backpack), Woolrich, & Orvis.</p>
<p>Good luck! If you’re looking for reliable, durable, quality goods, these are the places to go. This is more of the hiking boots, double denim, wool clad, waxed cotton, camper aesthetic, but I’m sure you’ll find things you like among this selection.</p>
<p>San Francisco Union Square! The BART station is directly under the mall, so just step out and you’ll find American Eagle, Abercrombie, Express, all that good stuff. And then walk out of the mall and you’ll see Forever 21, H&M, Urban Outfitters, etc. And then there’s the huge Macys in Union Square. Basically every store is here, and it’s really easy to get to. </p>
<p>Emeryville is also a pretty decent option, take the F bus to get there. Getting back is a bit tricker but it’s not too bad.</p>

<p>I’ve also been looking for places to shop for clothes (I’m female). So by the comments, I take it that none of these stores are actually in Berkeley? It seems unless you want thrift store clothes, you have to travel to SF?</p>
<p>Someone mentioned Urban Outfitters but it’s REALLY expensive, so…ehhh. There aren’t any places like Kohl’s or Old Navy in Berkeley? That kinda sucks. Someone mentioned Army surplus stores too, anyone know where? </p>
<p>Anyone up for a CC girls’ day out shopping? I really need to start finding out where to buy stuff around here, haha, complete waste of a first semester.</p>

<p>LemonCat: Check out Crossroads Trading Co on Shattuck. They have good clothing at cheaper prices than Urban Outfitters–so overpriced!–but the only caveat is that it’s used clothing. Still, none of it looks worn out or used, so it’s a decent deal. There are also vintage/thrift stores on Telegraph (probably on University too) that you could check out. No chain stores (other than Urban Outfitters) in Berkeley, unfortunately.</p>
