sports (lack of)

Hi,

It seems like almost everyone (including the people in the top of the class) in my gradeplays a competitive sport; if not they are really good at an instrument. And some even do both.

However, I really do neither.. This always makes me sad, especially seeing the threads of top colleges (Ivies, Duke, UChi, etc.) and how like every person that's accepted had one of these EC's.. I feel really left out when people talk about sports and how they played in their previous game.

can a person with no hooks/legacy still get into a top college without one of these?

Does not having a sport/instrument reduce the chances of admission by a lot?

I know that people are going to reply develop a passion, which I feel like I'm trying to find, but my question is about sports/instrument.

Thanks.

No it doesn’t. Although it does really help if you do one of them (instrument or sport).
I am NOT sporty person, but instead I play the piano (11 years at a music school!)

You can always internship at labs if you’re a science person. If you’re into art, submit your artworks to qualified art competitions (and of course do well in them-I’d suggest the Scholastic Art and Writing Award one. It’s a very well known competition. You can submit essays as well).
There are many ways to spice up your college apps without playing a sport or instrument, trust me. :)

Good luck :3

You’re supposed to be accomplished in and dedicated to something. It doesn’t have to be sports, and unless you’re going to be recruited there’s nothing all that special about sports anyway…it’s just that sports is one of the more common things people choose to do.
