Sports Law Agent?

Do you think that going into a sports agent posistion or such would be good? Would a law degree really help me in this field, would I be looked at much greater than those who dont have a law degree? How many of you would recommend it?

My UCLA alumni mentor is a sports agent. He got his job after he graduated from college. Of course, he played basketball in college (UCLA, won a national championship 1995) so it gives him some instant credibility. Anyway, his boss told him that if he was going to advance in his career, he would eventually need to go get a JD or MBA (his choice), and that either would also help enhance his credibility. So yes, a law degree could help, and it could also help you think, but he said besides writing contracts and abiding by league recruitment/draft rules, there's nothing else really law-related in being a sports agent.

I believe that in this field, you either have connections, or you'll have to be as obsessively dedicated to finding them as Charlie Sheen was in Wall Street.
