Ill be a senior next year, and I need some more schools

Right now I have

USC
Boston College
Wake Forest
Washington

And I want to explore some more options

Im a pretty good student, but standardized tests are not my forte

Well here is what is important to me, and hopefully you can give me some suggestions ..

solid academics... not Ivy level but better than ASU

I want the school to be prestigious though

weather and location arnt a factor, except I really want to escape the heat of Arizona

I desperately need a big sports scene. I want kids that love to wear their school colors around and are tailgating before the football games and such

I also like that a high majority of students live on campus, and if it is an urban setting I wish that the campus is really self contained. Meaning that the campus is centered, and not sprawling across the downtown of a city

Big sports schools where they wear the school colors...big football...hmmm...
I'd say University of Florida fits the bill, except it's hot (not dry though like Arizona though). Gainesville is definitely a college town, academics are good especially health sciences, engineering, biology, agriculture. The sports scene is CRAZY fun.

How about University of Georgia- beautiful campus, they love their Dawgs.

It's gonna be hard to find ALL of those things on one campus. You're probably going to have to give up one or two things. Also, being out of state, some state universities, Like UNC, are gonna be HARD to get into.

Look at Virginia Tech. Gorgeous, college town, they love their football, good academics (highly respected engineering), not hot- totally different than Arizona. One of the most beautiful campuses I've ever been on (and I went to UNC-Chapel Hill!!!). And not impossible to get into from out of state.

If standardized tests are not the OP thing, some of the schools mentioned are a big reach including:

(beyond reach)
Stanford
Duke
UCLA

(reach)
USC
ND

Some good choices:
PAC 10
oregon and oregon state
washington and washington state

Maybe some of the Big 10 U's
I don't know about how the stats hold up at
Ohio State, Michigan and Mich State
but these are certainly Big sports schools

I'll speak personally for two:
VT (freshman year): You've never seen something as great as Blacksburg exploding as 64K Hokies pack themselves into Lane Stadium. Football weekends are nuts, and parties/spirit is ridiculous. Good academics outside of engineering (the powerhouse), especially for sciences. Weather is seasonal, as in all four come and go at the right time with the right weather. Winter is a tad cold/windy though, but not bad at all. The only thing is that its rare to find anyone above a 2nd year on-campus, which sucks. Not a tight knit living community, but Hokie pride is unbeatable. I'll miss VT and the spirit, a lot (see next)

UVA (second year transfer): Everyone loves a Wahoo. Seriously. They pride and tradition in this school is ridiculous, and beats even Hokie Pride. TJ founded The University, and everyone on-grounds knows it. From the secret societies, to the Lawn/Rotunda, to the first-year dorms experience, to the parties/frats, to the outstanding academics, and the overall pride and love for their school, UVA students are some of the happiest with their school. It's a DI school and sports (namely football, basketball, and ofcourse lacrosse) dominate life when people want it to. Football games are ladened with tradition from guys/girls dressing up, to CavMan riding in, to pre-gaming on the Lawn. Basketball games are held in the brand new John Paul Jones Arena which is massive. Frankly, IMO, it doesn't get much better than this. As for student life, school pride is ridiculous, and everyone lives in a tight-knit community. Tons of on-grounds housing, and most off-grounds housing is within walking distance of central grounds. And with stellar academics, a beautiful city (charlottesville), great sports, and an awesome student body, it turns into a nice little sweet deal.

Univ Maryland at College Park and UVA in Charlottesville. Strong academics. Signficant out of state representation for state schools. ACC Div. 1 Athletics.

I would have to suggest UNC Chapel Hill. Don't be put off by the low acceptance rate....visit and you will be drawn into the athletic/academic environment.....any time of the the night you will see students on the soccer fields playing everything from soccer to ultimate frisbee. We know their records for great basketball, baseball, soccer but they have won many national championships in about everything except FOOTBALL. Butch Davis is now the man on the Hill helping revive Carolina Football.

There are sports at different levels, varsity, JV, CLUB and Intramurals. Ranked consistently as one of the top public Universities....and known as a Jock school.
