I am about to to be a junior in high school. So far my gpa is 4.15. I am taking 5 AP classes this year and they are AP Lang, AP Calc AB, AP World, AP Computer Science A, AP Physics 1. I did track last year and now this year i feel like playing football.
So my question is should i risk lowering my gpa by playing football or just keep my commitment to track and keep up my grades. Football is has tough and long practices which might not give me time to study and do homework for 5 AP classes. Would colleges just look as football as another EC activity since i am nothing special at it? Would doing football be just as equivalent as club that i would enjoy?
If you think football could be really meaningful to you, then you should go for it, and maybe scale back on the APs. But if it’s just a casual interest then I would think twice.
Definetly agree with the two post above, I played footbal for 4 years 3 varsity, and the amountof commitment it took was crazy. Practice, weights, film, then my school work, not going to lie during the fall season my grades were affected, not crazy but definetly effected. I would recommend another EC just because if you are goinf into your junior year I wouldnt recommend just jumping into football. And also unless your going D1 colleges care way more about thos AP classes and Sats
