Spreadsheet of common College Confidential acronyms

Hello all,

I’ve been on CC for a while now but I still get occasionally confused at the strange esoteric vocabulary of aspiring college applicants and their worried parents :slight_smile: Hope this proves somewhat useful! Please feel free to add words in a new row below the lot, or correct any ill-defined terms. All mistakes are mine.

@bomerr Actually, I don’t know what those terms mean (guess I haven’t been around for long enough to tell) - feel free to add those to the document!

COA = Cost of Attendance = Cost to actually attend a university.
COA-EFC = amount of need-based aid possible.

UC = University of California = California Public Education System.
I forgot about CSU but that is another California Public Education System.
Same with CC / CCC - Community College and California Community College

IGETC = General Education (GE) plan CC students can complete to satisfy undergraduate GEs

pre-req = pre-requsities = courses required to transfer into a major at a 4-yr university.
