Spring '11 Classes

Breakdown of classes, what are you guys registering for?
Anyone have experience with a language course? also whats another science to take other than bio (cannot fit it into my schedule?

If you are a science major, like biology for instance, focus on finishing up your gordon rules.

Easy Gordon Rule Courses: CLA2123 (The Roman Way)
Also look at AMH2020 (American history after 1865)

Also can’t remember the course code by middle eastern civilizations and ancient civilizations are both easy gordon rules

What questions do you have about the language courses? I’m currently in SPN1124.

As for a science credit, if you are not a science major and you were referring to baby Bio, I recommend AST1002 (Astronomy). I took it in the summer freshman year, and it was very challenging, but I heard it’s pretty easy if you take it during a full semester. It was a very interesting class for me, and the lab was pretty cool as well. Baby Bio is a gimme A, but AST was more interesting for sure.

thanks forthe gordon rule classes!
and oh okay has anyone taken french or german?
i was thinking geology? is that hard? because i cant with baby bio or astronomy, wont fit into my schedule

My advisor recommended CHM1020 or PHY1020 for spring. I registered for CHM1020 already, but a couple of my friends taking the course now said the course is a nightmare and the instructor is horrible. Anyone else here have experience with this chemistry class? I think I’m going to bail out of it and take a different science course.

My roommate says oceanography is a pretty easygoing class. I’m in geography and everyone in my particular class is pretty much dying.

Many people that I know are Biology majors and they are dying in Chem. I would opt out of it if you aren’t a science person, I know I am not. Oceanography should have a lab right?I havent heard anything about Geology it might be easy?

Avoid Chem if it isn’t required. I’ve also heard the class is Brutal.

As a side note if you do take baby bio don’t underestimate the serious need to study for the exams. Every time I left the testing center there were at least two people who failed chatting it up. Even if you don’t attend class read the book and buy bill’s notes!

Do you need to get your science done for a milestone? If you need a class with a lab I’d wait for baby bio. If you just need science then go with oceanography.

Anyone taken EDF4430 Classroom Assessment and know if it’s worth the time? Not an education major but I want some useful insight into schools and classrooms.

If its 1020, Chem should be ok. 1045 Gen. Chem = HE11…the material isn’t too much, but the amount of work given between the lecture and lab is unnecessary.

Yea the CHM1020 is supposed to be a dumbed downed version for non-science majors, but my friends in the class now say the instructor is making it into a torture marathon. Maybe they are exaggerating, I’m going to check this out more. My adviser said today I can take the baby bio with lab to meet general requirements, but I still have to take at some point either the CHM or PHY 1020 for my major. I’m having a problem scheduling the Physics course that I would prefer to take now and I might stay in CHM1020 or I might switch to baby bio.

^I actually may switch into bio mostly because it is much simpler than any of the other sciences with a lab component.

and yes I believe chem for non majors would be okay for anyone who excelled in it during high school and believe they won’t be overloading next semester with work.

I’m registered for The Roman Family (CLA3502), Anthro of Food (ANT2460), College Algebra (MAC1105), and Intermediate Japanese (JPN2220). Anyone have experience with the Japanese course? It’s been four years since I was last in a Japanese class. I’m studying up on my hiragana and katakana this December, but does this instructor use a lot of kanji? My last professor didn’t, so I’m a little worried.

the ancient mythology class code is CLT3378. there aren’t any open seats left but some are bound to open up during drop/add week.
