thanks

Schedule of Classes will appear here when it’s released, you never know exactly when. Usually mid-October

Your registration opening will appear in the student center in Onestart.

Thanks soccergurl…where in Onestart will it be?

Student Center front page, on the right side under enrollment

soccergurl…have registration dates been posted on onestart? I still cant find them

They may not be available yet, I’d check like once a week or so. Or wait until your friends start talking about it, that was a good clue as well

It is available now.

ace550…thanks…when does registration start? still cant find that info

Follow the description provided by SG7988, you should find some bogus date. It will be updated sometimes. You will have plenty of time during the Fall break to put together a plan. Refer to the following two links to select the professors:

I know registration starts on October 24th? Does anyone know what is the last day that was assigned? Based on my date/time I am going to be taking all 8:00am classes…wow

That tends to be what happens when you’re a freshman, unfortunately. I hate to say it, but you have to pay your dues and take the 8 or 9 am classes

I will gladly take the early classes over not getting into the classes I need. I was just a little surprised because I thought it was based on credits and by credits I am a sophomore.

bigbooklover, my daughter’s registration date is Nov. 13. She is a freshman who came in with 20 credit hours from AP classes and is taking 15.5 hours this semester. Seems awfully late, so I too am interested to know what the latest registration date is. When is yours?

She has the “perfect” spring schedule all figured out, with no Friday classes and the professors she wants. I told her she better have several “backup plans” and be mentally prepared to not have the perfect schedule, especially since 2 of her classes are not typically freshman classes. She was lucky when registering for 1st semester classes - she attended the 3rd day of orientation and got all of her first choice classes, with no Friday classes, so she is spoiled this semester!

stbemtpynest…I have 26 credits from AP/college classes and I am registering on the same day as your daughter. My guess is that this semesters credits are not included because technically we have not passed any classes yet. I am not even going to start planning my schedule until closer to my registration date because I am sure classes will fill up and hopefully new sections will open up

stbemtpynest…what honors class is your daughter going to take? I want an interesting class but not with an absurd amount of reading

bigbooklover, she is a business major so she is planning to take BUS-X 202 Technology Honors next semester. She was also planning to take BUS-C 106 Business Presentations Honors, but it doesn’t fit into her “perfect” schedule. If she has to revert to Plan B, she may end up taking both honors classes. I think you said you are not a business major, so I don’t know if either of those classes would be “interesting” to you  This semester she is also taking 2 honors classes, BUS-K 204 The Computer in Business Honors and COLL-S 103 Expectations of Adulthood Honors (which is only offered to incoming freshmen as an Intensive Freshman Seminar course). So again, either not available to you or may only be interesting to business majors. Sorry, that wasn’t helpful!

The AP advantage for freshmen is still apparent at this point. But, it will be less significant after next summer since some students will take a lot of summer classes. The problem is that lowerclassmen will have difficulties of getting into higher level courses with the best professor since they are competing against the upperclassmen.

bbl,

You should be looking for the best professor who will open your eyes on the various subjects since you have not decided on your major. These professors, especially from the honor classes, are more demanding in their reading assignment. One of the possible outliers is:

HON-BW 299 BW: HON-H 299/MUS-Z 202 (4 CR), Prof. Hollinden

D is a freshman with a date a couple days ahead of your date. I think the 8th of nov or something like that. She had somewhere over 30 credits entering IU. I thought she would go sooner. She had such an easy time with her first semester schedule I am hopeful that she is equally blessed for the spring.

On the grade distribution website does the average GPA represent the GPA of the students in that class and the class GPA the average grade that was given for that course?

Yes. And you can also see the specific distribution of grades to see the number of drops, etc.
