@FearTheFeathers About the same. Mine was completed in the first week of November.
@aboutasoandthis Did you apply for RD? When were you notified?

@FearTheFeathers You won’t like what you see.
GPA: 3.9 51 Credits Completed
SAT 1660/2400 (My high school score 7 years ago. I heard a rumor that the average range is 2100+, and I can score 1950+ on practice tests, but a recruiter insisted it was just a checkmark to see if you can read English. Challenge accepted.)
Essays: They must have been good. I gave each my best effort. I only worked on them for a few days though.
Recommendations: Great. My boss wrote my first letter. I didn’t know it at the time, but he taught at Columbia for 10 years. My economics club advisor wrote my second.
Extra-Curriculars:
-Air Force Veteran
(I think this is the big one as GS was primarily founded to educate returning servicemen from World War II. The veteran community is overwhelmingly supportive.)
-Economics & Finance Club—Treasurer -(GS seems to like this activity. Three of my friends got in.)
-College National Fed Challenge-BMCC Representative
-National Anthem & Alma Mater Performer: BMCC 50th Commencement at Madison Square Garden
-Official United States National Anthem and Italian National Anthem Performer for Aviano Air Base, Italy, 2013.
-BMCC Art & Music Department-Clerical Assistant
-Various stage manager volunteer work at community theaters and Air Force “Tops in Blue” performances.
To be honest I wasn’t that interested in the school, and I even talked about that in my essay. At my school, a lot of students want in for the ‘brand.’ Even my professors pressured me to apply because it was prestigious. I really just want to study the economics of the art, entertainment, and cultural heritage industries; I already possess a lot of books on the subject. In my essays, I talked about how I need exposure to aesthetics and the axiology of art—emphasizing how this program could help me. I helped my friend who got into the Financial Economics program with her essays last year. I believe that if you are genuine, reveal your weaknesses, and explain how different events have shaped you as a person, you are a strong candidate.
@CUSOGS
RD. I was notified on December 10th. I didn’t submit the second part of the application until November 28th. I told you I was surprised.
Never in my life have I felt less confident, lmao.
I got rejected from NYU, Fordham, and Pace Honors. (Accepted into the regular Pace Business Economics Program.) I’m also black. I’m telling you it’s a crapshoot.
@aboutasoandthis Congrats!
One more question:
How did they notify you?
You should receive an e-mail stating that your Columbia account has been updated, and that you should log in. Once inside, you click on the newest dated page. You will then see a page stating “Congradulations” and the 5 step process to confirm enrollment (tuition deposit, immunization records,etc.). There will also be a link to a more traditional acceptance letter.
@aboutasoandthis Thanks for answering.
Congrats again!
Going nuts. Was told today was the day, lost my spot at Rutgers and went all in. Im hoping for some good news
@LastCall9449 where’d you hear that today was the day? Fingers crossed for all of us. Ughhhhh.
I made a few phone calls because deadlines to accept admission for my other schools were coming up. First they said it would be by the 11th, then when i called Friday they said the 15th…I lost my spot at RU on the 12th so, its GS or bust.
@FearTheFeathers my line reads similar to the Airman above me, except I was Army and Im currently at a community college with a 3.95 and stellar recommendations. As for the essay, well thats subjective…
Someone help me please. I got an email from Columbia saying that there has been an update made to my application and to log in to the status portal to check my application status, and I go there to see if I was accepted or rejected, but it’s asking for my temporary PIN. I haven’t received an email with a temporary PIN and my Columbia ID number isn’t working for it. Do we have to create a special PIN somewhere on the school’s site?
UPDATE: I tried logging into the financial aid page and it let me change the password and it’s letting me see the page and I’m able to apply for financial aid and all of that??? WAS I JUST ACCEPTED?? Oh my god. I’m crying. I honestly am feeling like it’s a joke and I’m waiting for the rug to be pulled out from under me. My stats are not impressive at all, so I’m probably wrong. It’s still not letting me view the admissions decision.
I was accepted. Oh my God. I cannot stop shaking and crying. This is so unexpected and I’m in total disbelief. I’m so thankful. Praise God. I was not expecting to be admitted at all. My parents laughed when I told them I was applying and now I’m in!!
@FearTheFeathers Congratulations!
@CUSOGS thank you so much!!! Have you gotten your email yet?? I’m hoping to see you there this spring!!
