Does anyone know if it will show up on Spire first? I assume it will.
@CopperShadow Haha, that’s a pretty wide range, 22 days.
Well, at least it’s not until mid-Dec.
@UMAx4 Yeah it’ll show up on spire before anything else.
@titankcom I know right
I’m applying for Fall 2017. I know the application deadline is in April but when would be the best time. Should I do it now, January (when I start spring semester), or closer to around the deadline? I’m a college freshman at a Mass. State School and I want to make sure I get as much of my college work gets considered.
Good luck to the rest of you
@TheBrady6 I think you should apply during January when you got this semester grade into the transcript. But definitely not near the deadline, though.
@CopperShadow My status on the main page just changed from “complete application” to “complete Regular Decision application.” But when I clicked on it, the popup page is still unchanged. I not sure if this means anything. Is there any change on yours?
I just checked and spire has changed to “Complete Regular Decision Application”. I’m not 100% sure but I think freshmen who were waitlisted in the fall and offered Spring admission will hear first. It seems the “regular decisiob” designation means not waitlisted but applied for regular transfer. Just a guess though.
Also spire updates over night so a change this early was weird.
I also read somewhere that they take about 1100 spring transfers. Waitlisted, community college transfers then regular. And letters with transfer credit can take as long as mid-December to receive. So you could get admitted as far out as December. Don’t lose hope!!!
@nouveaufriske probably as a political science major? BTW, I actually got a 1620 on the SAT (not that it will help).
@nouveaufriske or as a sociology, psychology, or public health major
@titankcom Yeah same change to “complete Regular Decision application.” Hopefully this means they’re finalizing everything and decisions will be out soon.
@UMAx4 You’re probably right, makes sense. Really hope it’s not all the way in December though haha.
@hamza678, UMass told me that they do “holistic” admissions, so they’d take your whole situation into account. If you can keep your college GPA up around 3.7 next semester and write a great essay addressing your poor high school grades and how you’ve changed for the better, I think you’d have a good shot. Or, you could always wait and transfer during your 2nd year; then you wouldn’t have to submit high school grades or SATs at all. Good luck!
@UMAx4 My status changed to “complete regular decision” I think 3 days ago. So the wheels are turning over there. I hope they get 'er done before December too; it’s gonna be crazy trying to get everything figured out for such a big life change with just a month’s notice before spring semester begins. Thanks for the stats on spring transfer numbers; I hadn’t seen those anywhere. Wonder how many applications they get.
Just checked spire and now it says “Your application is under consideration for admission”. Did anyone else’s change?
@XxKerrixX Did it change to that from “Your application is complete and is under review.”? Hmm… mine didn’t change.
Mine didn’t change neither.
@XxKerrixX May I ask are you happen to be transferring from a community college?
Nevermind, I saw your post on the first page. So through @UMAx4 ‘s information on the second page, seems like they have finished with waitlisted applications and now are moving on to community college students’ applications.
@titankcom If you don’t mind me asking, are you applying from an out-of-state 4 year university?
I am transferring from another UMass.
How about you?
Ahh I see. I’m transferring from a west coast 4 year university.
Yeah it used to say “complete and under review” but it changed yesterday. Hopefully that means I’ll be getting an answer soon. And I am transferring from an out of state community college
@titankcom Yeah I guess it doesn’t matter if I apply midsemster or not because I’m not going to get 2nd semester grades in until April-May (right?).
Mine just changed to “Your application is under consideration for admission”.
@XxKerrixX For you did it now change to an actual decision?
