I’m currently at my first semester of community college, I have all As right now but my high school gpa was only like a 3.2 and my ACT was a 24 I think. I didn’t apply to UMass in high school (I graduated last spring) so I’m kind of anxious about getting in. I’m a psychology major too, don’t know if that effects it at all. Any thoughts?
Hi there!
I’m also in my first semester in college seeking for a transfer this upcoming spring. Currently, my grades are not as stellar as yours but hopefully, my final HS transcript will overshadow that—as well as my resume, essay and whatnot.
Have you received your Spire log-in yet? Or better yet, a decision?
I have only received the portal to check the status of my application. I did get an email yesterday asking for my midterm grades. It’s my first semester in college do you think that is normal for a college to ask that? I know nothing lol I can’t tell if thats a good sign or not!
Are you in-state?
Keep up the A’s. As long as you keep getting A’s the question is most likely whether you will get in this year rather than whether you will get in.
“I did get an email yesterday asking for my midterm grades.”
This is normal.
Thank you and yes, I am in-state too!
Hey @DadTwoGirls,
I’m quite nervous. While I did do relatively well in high school, I’m afraid my failures in my first semester of college will jeopardize my chances of being accepted. Whereas in high school I received a 4.08 (W) GPA and rank 22/353, I have already withdrawn from two courses and declared another one as a Pass/Fail in college (that, and I’m bordering between a D/C grade average in another course). I know that most likely admissions will want to pry further into this matter. What do you think?
People have already begun getting their acceptances does that mean its a no for me?
“People have already begun getting their acceptances does that mean its a no for me?”
You can’t tell until you hear back. Some schools will first send acceptances to students whose high school grades were great, and for transfer students with borderline high school grades might wait for the final first semester community college grades. Given your high school gpa it wouldn’t surprise me at all if you hear back after they get your final first semester grades. However, I don’t think that any of us here on CC can know what thinking is going on inside admissions.
Keep up the good work at community college where you are, and in the end things will work out well one way or another. How long this will take no one can predict accurately.
