My son was admitted for Spring, 2016 rather than Fall, 2015. Would not choose this if we had option of Fall. Worried about difficulty acclimating socially w/ or w/o greek life, lack of summer internship/job opportunities because only one semester under belt, “first semester” class availability in spring semester, housing etc. Are there any “pros” other than being told he still gets to go to USC? Thank you.
None that I can think of. I’m very sorry this happened.
Pro: you will save money if you attend a CC or cheaper university for the Fall 2015 semester.
Pro: If there are required courses outside of your comfort zone, and not part of your intended major, you can get them out of the way before getting on campus.
Pro: part time internship/job experience in the fall. Not as much for the money, but to help in applying for summer internships the following year (at that level, companies look more for experience than whether they had 1 or 2 quarters of the GE courses).
My DS volunteered for a local congressperson in the fall which set him up for a summer internship the following year. For CS types for example, doing several hackathons in the fall and an independent project will make a great impression on a resume.
Sky, please forgive me, but I don’t recognize acronym DS or CS. Please advise.
DS - dear son
CS - Computer Science
