The HS Counselor told my S that he was told that a fair number of Spring admits will be able to get into the Fall. Does anyone know about this, and if so how many.

thanks in advance

do they have to go through the same appeal process as those who did not get into Berk?

The counselor must have been referring to the Fall Program for Freshmen, which is a program offered in the fall for spring admits on the UC Berkeley Extension campus. Space is limited for the program. In fact, if you checked on the FPF website, you will see that the program is filled to capacity. If you sign your son up now, you will be put on a waiting list, which I heard is a pretty long one from the presenter during the FPF info session during Cal Day.

I don’t mean to be discouraging, but I think it might be too late to get a spot in FPF as of now because of the long waiting list. You can sign up, but I wouldn’t keep my hopes up too high of getting a spot. They will announce how many people they can accept off the waiting list after the May 1st SIR deadline, so they can gauge how many people who have a spot in FPF are actually attending. I think the best idea for your son would be to either commit to Berkeley expecting to start in the Spring semester or commit to a different school.

Actually he has already put the deposit down for the FPF, so that is taken care. His counselor must be mistaken

Okay, well then.

Fascinating.
