Spring Break '06

Hey all, I started this thread to see what everyone is doing for Spring Break this year. I was planning on flying to NY or Boston (my school is in Houston, and I have never been to the NE), but the weather over there sucks right now (I hate the cold) so I have kinda axed that idea. Now I don't know what I want to do. I had some friends I wanted to see up there, but I think I will go there in the summer. So, a lot of my friends are going home, which I really don't want to do, and others are going off to go have a week of drunkenness. I don't have a problem with partying, but I don't drink, and I don't want to be a DD the entire week. So I guess what I want to know, is if anyone out there is doing something really cool, inexpensive, and not 90% reliant on alcohol over break. Of course, I would find someone to go with me on whatever I decide to do, but I don't know where to go! I want to go somewhere that I have never been before and somewhere that I will keep me entertained for the week. I know that some people will say "It doesn't matter where you go, it is more dependent on what type of person you are and who you go with" Alright, I get that, but I just want to see what some other people are doing this break to give me some ideas.

At least your spring break is long enough to do something. We got screwed of our break this year. Last day of finals is March 23rd, and instruction starts again March 28th.. and there is a weekend as part of that. A four day weekend really. sigh

That sucks. I'm going to Florida with my rowing team. So yeah, it will be dry spring break but I don't know if that really helps you with ideas.

I'm going home for spring break. My family is going to a (Monarchs) hockey game one of the nights. My roommate from school is probably coming up for a day or two. Other than that I'll be sleeping a lot (right after midterms...). My dad is also running for selectman in our town the week that I'm off, so I'm sure I'll be holding signs or something for that

One of my best friends has a break that coincides with mine, so she's coming out to visit me for a few days and we're going to do all the typically tourist things in LA. Also my dad has a conference in town at the end of the week after my friend leaves, so I'm going to stay with him at his hotel and go to Disneyland for a few days. Probably not much help to you, but that's my break.

Um let see, I hope I get a job by that point so that I am working and not sitting around doing nothing. I would rather be doing something. I think it has been maybe four or five years since I've actually been on any vacation with friends.

I'm just gonna go home and sleep. I really really dream of sleep...no joke :(

Clubbing!!!

:)

I'm going to Key West, FL. A huge group of my friends are going to Acapulco and then a few are going to Aruba but I decided to save my money for my Thailand trip this summer.

I'm doing alternative student break.

as an overworked college student with zero money...ive opted to go home and sleep for a week:)

Our gospel choir is having a tour in NYC for spring break. There's nothing in illinois for me anyways. except mommy

TORRESTOWERS don't know if this would interest you - but hey - give it a shot - http://www.commongroundrelief.org/ - there will be quite few college kids there for spring break - my own included - will be her second trip - free place to stay - meals - hard work - great folks - fun - and cheap to do - all rolled into one. Just an idea.

My sister is going on a trip to New Orleans w/ one of the student religious groups she's in, my mom will be working most of the week and my dad will be away on a business trip, so I get to stay home and take care of the dogs... :(
I'll probably rent some movies and might sneak out to the town 30 minutes away to go shopping.

The Northeast isn't that cold, last weekend storm seems to have been more fluky. At least in PA, you only need a light jacket right now (at least I do). Things might change as you move through March and go north though, I think its colder in NYC than Philly. I think the experience could be fun, even if it is a bit nippy. As for me, I'm going to see my school's basketball team play some road games (in CT and RI) and then go home (on the other side of the country).

mardi gras for a bit, then back to the NE and home

North Carolina for a bit to visit friends, flying home to Mass & then driving to NY to see the boy for a couple days.

going on a roadtrip to my bf's house

backpacking the north east

Myrtle Beach with my frat
