Spring Cleaning

Tried the coffee filter method of window cleaning, and now I’m a fan! I ordered a big pack of commercial size filters.

I just use wadded up newspapers to clean windows, mirrors, and glass tables - we still get an actual paper delivered daily so always have a supply. Cleans streak free - at no additional cost.

Newspaper is great if you still get it. Coffee filters is what came up in my search for newsprint replacement. No longer get the actual paper paper here… not reliable, and pita to deal with when we go away.

How does that work??? Doesn’t the ink get all over the glass?

I’m not Marilyn, but I have used newspaper too with good results. Nope, no ink on the windows! It was recommended to NOT use color printed newspaper pages.

I personally hate the feel of the newspaper in the process of washing the windows so while I have done it with good results I don’t always use it.

Not that I can tell, although it does get on my hands. It’s very practical for al our glass patio doors - dining room and two bedrooms. I can clean with abandon!

That’s so wild. So do you just use water?

I usually use water in a spray bottle (like an empty Windex bottle) with a teaspoon or two of vinegar and a drop or two of Dawn.

You can buy (cheaply I think), unprinted newspaper from packing stores. It’s not recycling, but a lot cleaner than printed paper.

Yes, but I think the packing paper sold there is not as thin as the actual newsprint. I looked into it. There are apparently rolls of filter paper for commercial coffee machines sold… I’m investigating those. It does not make sense to use rounds when you don’t need a specific shape for your application!

I know I’ve mentioned this in other threads, but I swear by e-cloths for window cleaning. :upside_down_face:

I agree they work well. I had some, and ordered a new set this year.
