I just want to highly encourage everyone to come and visit during spring spotlight or even just get a tour.

I was unsure of coming here until spring spotlight last year. When I came saw the campus with students around for the first time and learned more about SC I completely fell in love.

We work really hard at UCSC to inform and help people make a decision and spring spotlight is a great program that we put on for that reason!

JUST COME VISIT US! :)

: ) I want to come to spring spotlight, but I have a question- Is it better to come on a Saturday when there are more people, or on a weekday when there are less?

The Saturday reservations say there are about 400 spots open while the weekday reservations say there are about 100.

On the weekdays you’ll see more movement on campus. However, when I went to mine, it was on a Saturday, and I still thought it was cool. haha

I would say choose whichever is more convenient for you!

Also, maybe take a look at what events are going on around campus on that day??

I went on a weekday and it was definitely trippy to see the campus full.
From what I’ve experienced, on weekends, the campus gets pretty quiet and empty (probably due to the fact that people are either gone or too hung over to go outside), so seeing it on a weekday gave it more of a college feel and helped me visualize what it might be like to be a student here.

However, if you go on a weekend, chances are you will have more time to explore the campus on your own since the tours don’t go to all the colleges (they don’t go to Porter at all haha), and it’s a good idea to see everything before you choose what you want to do.

Be warned: you will be walking a lot! :D

Haha, my two choices for now are April 2nd and 3rd. I’m waiting on my older brother to tell me if he wants to go. If he goes, I’ll be going on Saturday, and if he doesn’t, I’ll be going on Friday. Spring break ends on the 4th for me, and mom and dad won’t let me cut, =P!

I guess both days will be alright. It would be nice to see the campus full of students, and at the same time it would be awesome to be able to explore on my own (and go see porter!).

Thanks for the warning! : ) I’m really looking forward to it. So excited!

Hey guys, for me spring spotlight last year was really worth it. I went on a weekday and it was really great because you get to see the campus full of students. I think the best part though was getting to sit in on classes. When you get there they give you a schedule of the day’s activities and what classes are available for you to sit in on. It was a great way to get a feel for your major or something you might be interested in. Also the dorm tours were great because I actually ended up selecting a college I didn’t originally think I wanted. I thought I wanted Eight but ended up choosing Porter and love it!

Would it be lame if I brought my parents, or is Spring Spotlight something I should experience alone?

I’m going with my parents. =P They’re my ride to santa cruz

Do the dorm tours include all the dorms, or just some of them?

I believe this year we’re showing dorms in crown college as a part of the tour, but cowell will have a show room as well.

Maybe some of the other colleges will too??

Did Judy approve of this message?

You just sound like Judy, a staff person that works at UCSC admissions. Your OP came off very car salesman-y.

I’m going to try to come, I’ve actually never really seen the campus for myself.

What do you usually do at Spring Spotlight? Do your parents usually come with you? Is it a guided tour the whole time? Sorry for all the questions at once. x)

@Louis

Yeah, Judy is my boss. I’m a tour guide at UCSC. And I do feel like I kind of channeled her in my OP haha :)

@milkteaa
It is an admissions presentation and a tour. We give A LOT of useful information. That’s why I encourage you guys to come!!

ok i got a call from them and they invited me, told me they put me on a big list and would be contacting me to fill out the forms, and i never got an email back.

do parents usually come too?

Hi, I was wondering how we can sign up for spring spot light? thank you
