Spring Transfer admit, my parents willing to pay but now the guilt is incredible!

Hey guys! I've been admitted for spring (Theatre BA), and my parents have told me that they will do everything they can to find the money to send me there. I mean, I was hoping for that, but now I feel so incredibly guilty now that it's a reality. I can go back to my school and it's much more affordable, especially since I live at home. But it's not a school that will help me in my field. I also plan to move to LA after graduation anyway, so I won't have any connections there like I would with USC. But my parents even said, they don't know if they can promise all 4 semesters--it turns out to be SO much money.

I can appeal my fianncial aid again. Maybe I'll get more money? After this first semester I can apply for scholarships, maybe I'll get some additional ones? I can work this semester (if I find a job haha) and help to pay for rent then.

I just don't know what to do. IF anyone has any words of advice, any "This is your opportunity, take it!" or "Don't take advantage of your parents!" I'd appreciate any of it.

This is your opportunity…to attend a fabulous school AND to help out. In addition to trying to get FA…try getting a part time job. I am not being snide. It is easier to find entry (department store/food service) than you imagine. If you are in school, part time work. If you aren’t get a full time job. Save your money. Help out.

There are LOTS of on campus jobs you can find that are specifically for students – and don’t forget that you can apply to scholarships year round (both through USC and for outside scholarships) that can offset your tuition costs. You should be applying to scholarships as much as you can.

Try to live within your means, share a room instead of having one to yourself and try to buy books used or off other students.

omg I totally understand how you feel…My parents were glad that I got into USC, but at the same time, they were not very happy that I didn’t get into UCB or UCLA…which would cost so much less.
I am going to look for jobs on campus and apply for some scholarships. However, I am kinda worried cuz I heard that scholarships were hard to get at USC, since there are so many hardworking intl students there. Idk if that is true, but I am gonna give it a try anyway.
