Do any students know if Sprint has good service in Ithaca? cause i'm wondering if i should resign my two yr contract with them or get another provider. Do the mountains/hills interfere with the service? and if sprint doesn't work who does? Thanks!

Don't know about sprint, but Verizon has very good coverage in ithaca.
If you have the freedom to change - they would be a good choice.
My son dropped ATT-Wireless last fall because of poor service in Ithaca. Don't know if it has improved with the Cingular merger.

i hear sprint has bad service. verizon is supposed to be good.

yeah, this area blows when it comes to phone service... Very few have consistant coverage, but Verizon has excellent coverage for most of this region. Sprint seems to be extremely hit or miss... though I don't know anyone with Cingular, they seem to be popular as well, but I'm not sure how great the service is.

I would recommend Verizon for the consistant service in Ithaca and the surrounding regions-99% of the way netween Ithaca and Binghamton, and most (95%) of the drive to Syracuse as well.

Verizon has cell towers on a couple buildings in campus (Barton Hall comes to mind). They have the best cell service here hands down.

Get Verizon. Cingular service sucks for North campus, and all the other cellular services blow as it is.

well theres your answer. ATT is spotty, cingular sucks by the dorms. Verizon has towers on campus...

is it recommended to get a plan with an ithaca number, my area number, or does it not matter?

your area. with verizon, theres no roaming or long distance charges. You'll call ppl from home however and if they call you they wont have to pay long distance. Everyone will have different area codes anyway.

get Verizon, you will not regret it. GET VERIZON

From what people tell me, you can get decent reception with most services, but Verizon is by far the best for Ithaca.
