Sr. Year Schedule affecting admission?

I'm planning on applying to selective schools (Pomona, Stanford, Brown, ect.) and am worried my schedule this year will hurt my chances @ admission. I am in the top 1% of my class, have 2280 SATs, & have 5's on all my AP exams. 8 classes is a full schedule at my school and I will be taking 5. What do you think? Any advice & opinions would be greatly appreciated :)

Senior Year:
AP Literature
Linear Algebra (post-AP)
AP Psychology
AP 3D Design
AP Stat

Junior Year:
AP BC Calc
AP Lang & Comp
AP US History
orchestra
Honors 3D art 3
Honors comparative religions
Honors Spanish 4
Honors Physics

What will you be doing during the other class times? Can you intern for a teacher, or will you be working, taking classes at community college, etc? I notice that you are not doing orchestra, so are you also cutting back on your ECs? I think that you can make a case for a lighter workload if you are committing more time to another passion. Just sitting in 3 study halls is going to sound a little strange.

At our kids’ HS they recommend packing Soph and Jr year schedules as those will have more weight during the admissions process. Sr yr they recommend taking fewer classes, or filling in with easier classes you wanted to take but didn’t have room for before. They offer a flexible scheduling option for seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher allowing them to come in an hour later and/or leaving an hour earlier.

DD came in late (had 5-7AM swim practice, reg school hrs started at 7:30 - this extra hour gave her time to get presentable and to study for tests/meet with teachers, GC, others). She also took 4 AP’s, two that ran 1 1/2 class hours long, which left her with 2 1/2 hours open during the course of her day. She couldn’t have added an additional class because of this. So, on paper, it looked like she was 2 hours short of a full load, but really it was a full schedule with one study hall.

BTW, she was accepted to 10 of 12 schools she applied for, and none of them mentioned a problem with her senior schedule.
