SSATs....

For the essay part of the test-

There usually is something like: (at least when I took it)

(Something happens. Ex. He saw the empty classroom)

What is your opinion about (a topic)?

And it told you to bubble in the one you were going to write about

When I took a real test for practice there was one that essentially forced you to write a story, similar to #1 mentioned above, and then one that asked for your opinion, like #2 above. I chose the first one, since I basically didn't understand the second one.

So what I'm asking is if you think the AOs care about if you wrote a story, or expressed your opinion.
Or do they just want to see your writing ability?

BTW I am applying in the next school year, I'm currently in 7th grade.

Thanks :)

I believe it’s both they want to make sure your writing skills are up to par, but at the same time they want to know that you are able to voice your thoughts.

So, would you think that it would be better to write about the one that asks for your opinion?

They just want to see your writing ability.

It’s also an opportunity for the schools to check whether the writing level in your application essays is in line with what it is in a proctored test, to expose kids who have other people (parents/consultants) write their application essays for them.

I wrote a story, because I am rather excellent at fiction but can’t write non-fiction to save my life.

Okay, thanks :)
