St Joe's (Philly) or George Mason University ???

We are down to 2 schools. We are from the west and although have visited each for the day, have no other knowledge other than the internet. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Both have good qualities that my child would be happy in. I have heard of possible financial troubles at St. Joe's, but I have yet to find concrete evidence. The clock is ticking and we are stumped!

I attended SJU this past year but I am planning on transferring to Mason in the fall (still waiting for acceptance). SJU is really a fantastic school! It has a beautiful campus, the teachers I had were all excellent, the dorms were nice, and there was a great sense of community and school pride that I found rare when looking at other schools. It is a more expensive compared to GMU and I know that some people do struggle but there are tons of opportunities for things like Work-Study. It small though, but if thats not something you mind then its great. Im transferring because I wanted a bigger school and to be closer to home and I spend time at GMU a lot. The campus is very clean, its much more laid back then SJU I’ve noticed, the dorms I have been in are not bad. It has a lot of the upsides of being from like more places to eat, more facilities, more opportunities in internships and that it is better known. I cannot tell you much about the education but my friends don’t seem to mind their teachers so I’m sure its not terrible. I think that either way you will have easy access to a city and both are great places!

Thanks for the feedback!! We actually have the higher price at GMU, because we pay full out of state tuition. SJU is actually more affordable (because of their scholarships). What are you studying? My daughter is looking into Speech and Language Pathology. Good luck with your transfer. I hope you get in.
