I thought my daughter got a piece of mail saying the EA deadline was extended to December 1 for St. Mary’s College of Maryland. It’s possible I am mixing up SMCM with Mount St. Mary’s (which sends her a lot of mail and emails). Can anyone clarify? Thanks!

I’m late on this but yes, St Marys of MD did extend the EA deadline. My son scrambled to get it all in since he had a little bit of extra time. Got it in by the Dec 1st date. When we didn’t hear anything by the decision date , we waited maybe a week or so more & then called. They basically said - yes, his app was all in by the extension deadline but since he hadn’t checked “EA” , it went into regular decision pile. Can’t switch it. It’ll have be in reg now.
:neutral_face::expressionless: really!?
We asked - how? He had it all complete, in by the extension date….
They were basically like - :woman_shrugging: Sorry, it’ll be fine though.
Spoke with them about a month ago because he STILL hadn’t heard. They told us - oh yes, I remember this. We know what happened now. Even though THEY extended the deadline, there was no EA option added on the common app to reflect that extension time. He’ll be fine though. Looks good. :neutral_face::expressionless:
He was accepted a few days ago but still. We liked the school but made us a bit concerned. I’m guessing we weren’t the only family calling wondering why they hadn’t heard if all the apps that went in during the extension went to reg decision by default.
Did your daughter apply?

Thanks MsAdventure. My daughter applied and got in (we didn’t see the EA box to check either). She’s happy about getting in though but she’s also still waiting on two other schools before she makes a final decision. The other schools don’t announce RD admittance until mid-March. In the meantime, St. Mary’s sends us a lot of mail. I like the school and think it’s a good fit for my daughter, but, in the end, it will all depend on the final line-up, what aid is offered, and what my daughter decides is best for her.
