St. Paul's School Concord NH

One of my sons is graduating SPS this Spring. Any questions send me a pm.

Hi,
Iā€™m a student applying to St. Paulā€™s for 3rd form! Iā€™ve finally finished reading all 205 pages of this thread and it has been extremely helpful. Thank you winterset and everyone else who posted! SPS is definitely my first choice and I canā€™t wait for the results to come out this Saturday!:)

Hi,
I just finished reading most of the pages here (yes, yes, Iā€™m not that diligent :P) and it has been super helpful!
I have been accepted to the fourth form, so Iā€™d love to get to know others who are currently studying there/just got accepted (:

I got accepted and will be going this fall.

Can anyone tell me a little bit about the varsity lacrosse program at SPS? My son has been accepted to SPS and lax is important to him.

Ith111 I just looked at their stats on the St. Paulā€™s website and last year their record was 7 wins and 11 losses.

@Blessemy which form will you enter?

I am attending third form. How about you?

Could someone rank the girls dorms from best to worst? I know it is somewhat based on opinion, but Iā€™m just curious.

Thanks Livy. Itā€™s definitely a tough leagueā€¦I was wondering if anyone else Sarum, Friendlymom, eton dad, anyone currently thereā€¦have anything to add about boys lacrosse at SPS

My son was also admitted to Deerfield and Taftā€“tough choices but ā€œlikedā€ SPS best so trying to get a feel for the program.

Sorry lth111, I have no insight about boys lax.

As for girls dorms, students probably have specific feedback but there are all different factors that go into whether a dorm is ā€œgoodā€. According to my D the biggest issue is who else is in there, both the other new students and the upperclassmen. My Dā€™s dorm is not very popular, but she loves it because thereā€™s a really good group of girls in there now.

All that aside - Kehaya is the newest of the dorms and it has a completely different layout than any other. The down side is that itā€™s relatively isolated compared to the other dorms.

Thank you so much friendlymom! That was very helpful!

Chocolatefudge, my D was accepted to fourth form, still deliberating with herself what to do, weā€™ll visit on April 4. What about you?

New 4th formers, youā€™ll be in my Dā€™s form. Sheā€™s already talking about how much sheā€™s looking forward to getting a bigger form next year. So far sheā€™s been very happy and seems to like her formmates very much - every class has a different dynamic and it looks like the Form of '16 has a good one.

As for dorms, while many schools groups students by grade, SPS has students from all 4 years together in the same dorm. There are 5 teachers per dorm (some live there and some donā€™t), each of which has an advisory group within the dorm. So you could be in any one of the boys/girls dorms on campus, not just one of a few. Thereā€™s a big variety in the housing; Iā€™ll describe the dorms generally here:

Quad dorms - Brewster and Ford (girls) and Manville and Simpson (boys). Older dorms with a fairly large number of singles, some doubles, some connected singles. The dorms surround a central open space where students like to hang out in good weather. Close to the gym and Hargate (the art building).

Coit (everyone still calls it ā€œthe Upperā€) - two girls dorms and a boys dorm. These are in the same large building as the food. Benefits are obviousā€¦ Plus, the Upper is one of the 3 locations on campus where cabs can pick up students and where pizza and other food deliveries are made. Close to the hockey rinks, but a hike to gym, chapel and classroom buildings.

Kehaya/Drury - Kehaya is girls and Drury is boys. Feels isolated because of location relative to lake and in a grove of trees, but actually just a short walk to the Upper. Drury is an older dorm with large rooms. Kehaya is a new dorm with an unusual layout - instead of the normal one bathroom per floor, there are connecting bathrooms between pairs of rooms.

Kittredge/Nash - These are right next to each other, basically adjacent to the library. Itā€™s just about the most convenient location on campus. Nash (boys) is an older dorm with big rooms. Kitt (2 girls dorms and 1 boys dorm) was built in the '70s or '80s and has 3 dorms off a central hallway. Each dorm has the rooms grouped around a central common room.

Conover 20/Middle/Armour/Foster - I grouped these together because theyā€™re all located on the ā€œotherā€ side of the Chapel from the rest of the campus, but otherwise theyā€™re not a unit in any way. Con 20 (girls) is another 70s/80s vintage building and is actually 2 dorms, so it has a lot of people. Armour and Foster are both boysā€™ dorms and both older buildings. Armous is pretty big- it used to have both the infirmary and a small dorm, now itā€™s all a dorm. Middle is the white clapboard building that you can sometimes see behind the chapel in photos.

You can give information about yourself for the roommate matches and I think you can even request a roommate, but you canā€™t request a specific dorm, so I donā€™t know how useful this description is. Current or former students, feel free to add or correct anything Iā€™ve said here.

Wow, thank you so much friendlymom! Itā€™s so nice to have insight on St. Paulā€™s while making my decision. Also, for all admitted students, did you get your packages from St. Paulā€™s in the mail yet??? I received a few letters from them but not the package that I received from other schools.

@Tibetan

me too! I was accepted into fourth form and will be revisiting April 4th-5th.

@friendlymom thanks so much! now iā€™ll know what to look for as I choose my dorms :3

@livy2462 same. I got the letters and everything, but the package didnā€™t come yet

Not received any package yet, only the acceptance letter.

chocolatefudge, would be fun to be able to recognize you on the 4-5th. R u boy or girl? In any event, 4th formers are only 48 total, we should be able to connectā€¦
