It's a letter in the mail and you should receive it soon. I got it ywterday

I thought decisions came out on March 10th, or are you talking about some sort of acknowledgment that your application is complete?

The hazing you guys speak of was eliminated a long time ago. The students still hear stories about ponding and some other things I don't think i'll mention. I can assure you its not what it was 30 years ago. Hazing on varsity teams is non-existent. Newbs have to cary stuff or fill up the water, but you'll find that on any sports team. Overall I think its a relatively haze free campus.

Winterset - The letter included information you need to access your decision online.

On an optimistic note, can anyone recommend a nice hotel in the area to stay in for re-visits? The one we stayed in last year was, well, sub-par. I'd like to make a reservation early this year.

Where is your revisit day?

CK,
Not sure if you stayed in Concord but I dont know of any decient hotels there.
You may find a few better ones in Manchester. Its about 15 minutes from Concord.

Hotel:
Visit the historic Centennial Hotel, Concord NH

I would endorse The Centennial and it is the closest to SPS. It is where most of the Presidential candidates stayed last year. Be sure that for ANY of the Concord Hotels you ask to the St. Paul's School rate. It will save you quite a bit.

If you want to go a bit further, I love the Bedford Inn. Great meals, rooms etc. It is about 20 minutes south.http://www.bedfordvillageinn.com/

The Centennial is my favorite hotel too. It's significantly more nicely appointed than other (chain) hotels in Concord. And it has a lovely restaurant with a terrific breakfast and elegant dinner food. However, the worst night's sleep I ever got at was at the Centennial - make SURE you are not staying over the kitchen - was sooooo loud.

Its weird being so close to letters. I don't think ill be getting into SPS anymore..but then again I change my mind a lot.

I'd be delighted if I got into SPS. My biggest dream right now...

As an aside. Out of over 2,000 threads, this is #14 with over 22,000 views! I would love to know who all those viewers are. I suspect people should establish a thread for each school. Think it is a good public service. Thanks for asking and answering so many questions!

Post something if you get admitted (6 days), and until then relax. Hope it works out for all of you!

Remember, you can look at the school newspaper here: http://spspelican.com/ There are also links to the library and even the menu for the dining room ('Upper Menu', if you want to check out the food). The current issue also has an article about French exchange students on campus, hats, how to get a date etc. Gives some insight into campus life. Obviously you can not use the blackboard etc.

Good Post by Hockeykid841 on how SPS makes admission decisions:

"At SPS the admission officers sit around a table and read through the apps together. They then place them in three piles. Accept, maybe, and deny. I imagine this part can go pretty rapidly. After counting how many they have accepted they then take the SAO's into consideration. They again go through the same process (this time only reading the maybes) and discuss each student, this time with the students chiming in. My advisor is on the admissions committee and I have several friends that are SAO's so I believe this to be pretty accurate.
For all of you who don't know a SAO is a student admissions officer."

To this I would add that they start with applicants who get 4 Yes votes (as I recall) they are automatic admits, then they work down the list. Also students apply to be SAO's and their votes do count. Your tour guide was probably not one, but could have been. Someone can expand or correct me (or Hockeykid).

Name the four Admin officers that you say get to vote please. Or is there say 6 officers and when an app gets 4 votes they're in?

I have no idea who votes (and don't think they would want their names posted anyway). My memory from three years ago was that 'if you got 4 yes votes you were in'. BUT do NOT rely on that, there may be more involved and it may have changed. I do not believe all admissions people read all applications and I know there is some faculty involvement. The process is not really relevant. Suffice it to say, it is as fair and consistent as they can make it and does not rely on one person.

Also, Coaches do count. Every coach ranks their "recruits" on a scale of one to five and this is sent to the admissions office. From what I hear a 5 will genuinely help you get in.

I'v never heard of this four point thing. But I'm sure its a possibility.

What happens if your interviewer is not on the admissions committee?

I'm pretty sure that all interviewers are on the admissions committee.

"a 5 will genuinely help you get in. "

What do you mean by this? And waht about if you have 2 or 3 "5's"..does that help even more. I know none of this really matter much anymore but its nice to know

I would imagine so.
