^^Not necessarily. ODP is very very weak in some states (particularly since the advent of the US Soccer Development Academy). Kids who don't play premier make up the majority of some of the teams.

I guess you'd better bring your ball with you and get as many touches as you can over the summer.

Hmm ya I guess, in Georgia it's not easy to make ODP at my age level. Our club team plays Academy...we were r3pl last year. I'm pretty sure there are about 15 clubs in academy around the U.S. And I'm going to poor area of mexico then spain...so I'll just play on the streets. It doesn't get much better than that.

For reference this was the e-mail:
"We graduate 15 players out of 22 on the varsity roster from this past season, and are seeking to re-load ā we have several strong players who as happens every year will certainly make the transition from a very good JV team to bolster the varsity, but we are need of strong new players as well; and this coming season more than any other in recent memory offers a great opportunity to contribute on the varsity level immediately!"

So mehkins...I imagine if you play soccer you won't have a problem making JV. I IMAGINE I don't really know. I don't underestimate anybody.

in terms of JV vs. Varsity for incoming athletes, i want to make a comment. playing JV at sps is an achievement in most sports at the school. aspirants get cut from these teams and they are not just filled with freshmen and sophomores. there are some juniors on JV squads. my point is that no matter how good you are in junior high leagues please understand that high school sports is a real step up in competition. some of the varsity players in the ISL and at sps are "PG" level in the sense that they are repeating a grade or started school late. i know one student who turns 19 next month while another turned 19 in january. it is tough for a normal sized 14 year old to compete with a normal sized 19 year old. i played my last year of high school football having just turned 17 during august practices to put this in perspective.

of course, there are freshmen phenoms out there but my advice is to be humble and work hard. JV is not the scrub team at sps but guys and gals in need of growth and skill development as there is a big difference between a 14 year old and an 18 year old.

Definitely, I'm going in as a repeat sophomore, 16. But ya...in case it was misunderstood I'm not saying JV is a scrub team. The kids on JV at my school right now is undefeated and doing better than the varsity. And I know many small scrappy freshman that can dominate the midfield better than a football buff. Defense is a different story...Size is a necessity.

When do they get back to you on roommates and what dorm you're in? Do you get to be in contact with your roommate before meeting them there (getting there name and facebook?).

mpiczā¦that is awesome (your trip this summer). Bring a futsal; it will really help develop foot skill.

nhsportsdadā¦Varsity if extremely competitive to make at most prep schools, I guess. My sonās soccer team had 18 seniors and pgās the year he came to the school. There were only two freshman on JV, which was mostly juniors and a few seniors. Baseball was the same. So, yes, it is an honor to make JV as a freshman or sophomore.

mpicz - Before school starts the school āfacebookā comes up on the sps website and you can see the pictures and names of everyone in the school including teachers. You can write your roommate a letter (snail mail) or find them on facebook. I talked to my roommate before I met her and I think it really helps because you get to know a little bit. Plus you can talk about what stuff youāre bringing to the room and stuff.

hey everyone. sorry I have been gone for a couple of weeks and havenāt been able to read all this. there are a ton of new posts! i was wondering about the cell phone thing. it says in bold that we are not allowed to bring a cell phone. are we actually allowed to? and also, what are people wearing for re-visits? im directing this question to girlsā¦ or people who attend sps. are girls switching out of uggs already and wearing more spring type things? i dont want to be overdressed or too wintery, but i live in the hot south so I am not really sure of the weather in new hampshire haha. can someone let me know what people are wearing this week? you can private message me. that would be awesome. thanks!

lol, nice mpicz
Booooring school year, i know where ur coming from. School this year couldnāt end ANY slower, lol. Are tryouts the like 2nd day of school at SPS? I hope iām not too out of shape by then, lol

crp1256-
iāve been trying to figure that out too
for the first day, iāll wear something more for chilly-er weather, considering they usually go into the night
then the following morning, ill probably wear a skirt with a solid colored shirt and nice sandals

Iām so used to going from Georgia weather to New England weather since I come up North all the time. But Iāve worn shorts when itās 20 degrees outside (but I got a cold a few days later) so if dress wrong for the weather I guess Iāll survive. Still I say as long as itās cute and dress code (uhhhh) you should wear it.

You are allowed to bring a cell phone, you are just not allowed to use it on campus outside your dorm. It can be very helpful if you need to go into Concord.

You can see names and pictures? on the sps website? Thatās pretty stalkerish lol, but cool at the same time. So most stuff comes mostly in august?

Lol wowā¦I can imagine everyone acting like they know nothing about the people their meeting on the first day of school. Thatās in august also right?
