St. Paul's School Concord NH

They are having a revisit today?
I figured the kids were still on break.
Hope she enjoys the school.

For the people attending, what does youā€™re class schedule look like as of now. Iā€™m pretty sure I have it all setā€¦other than I donā€™t know what science they will put me in. Took a lot of reading and e-mailing.

Mine:
Theatreā€¦Fall Term: Shakespeare in Performance. Winter Term: Scene Study Techniques, Spring Term: Acting techniques

Humanities VIā€¦Would be nice to get in an elective by spring term (really into the humanities)ā€¦when I donā€™t have any major athletic commitments.

Languge: Trying to do ā€œAdvancedā€ Spanish 2ā€¦If I have to do a placement test and I donā€™t purposely screw it up. Then probably Spanish 4. Iā€™m just really sick of spanish being my hardest class (ever since 6th grade).

Math: Algebra 2

Science: Hopefully Biology, but Iā€™m sure retuning students get first preference. So possibly Physics.

Mpicz, what form are you entering? your schedule seems all out of wack.

Lol look at the humanities course :P. 4th form repeat. And you probably where thrown off by math and science. My school is an IB school, and everything weā€™ve done is pretty much to prepare us for IB program. So the classes Iā€™ve taken are all weird and out of order.

mpicz - as a 4th former, hereā€™s what you will probably take:

Humanities VI
Fundamentals of Acting -a year long course that will fulfill your arts requirement. The acting classes youā€™ve listed are electives that need this course as a prerequisite
Math - Algebra 2 if thatā€™s your placement
Spanish - Placement test - you will likely find it more advanced than your previous school if public so donā€™t be surprised if your placement is lower than you guessed
Science - Have you taken Chemistry yet? If not, Chem or Physics (usually take 3rd form year) Bio is usually taken 5th form year

Feel free to try a humanities elective Spring term if you donā€™t mind taking a heavier load and giving up your free block. They have a lot of very interesting sounding Humanities electives.

Creative, Iā€™ve already talked to the head of the Theatre department and received the permission necessary to take those electives. He recomended those courses to me, Iā€™ve been into theatre for awhile now. And I go to a private international school and was apart of an immersion elementary school. One of the main missions of the school is to get students fluent in at least one languageā€¦I doubt it could get any harder language wise. And Iā€™ve taken Chemisty and Physics Honors currently. Im a sophomore right now, I donā€™t really care what science they put me in. I asked for biology, but doing chemisty or physics again wouldnā€™t bother me. I also took Algebra 2 this yr, but I hate math. And would much rather take it again.

Thatā€™s great that you can move right into acting electives and taking the initiative to get dept head approval. If youā€™ve taken Chem and Physics already, definitely donā€™t take it again. BTW, I understand that SPSā€™s astronomy electives are great if thatā€™s ever of interest. Sound like youā€™ll be well beyond Spanish 2 honors then. Hopefully, you can get Sr. Solis for Spanish. Heā€™s fantastic!

Yea it would sound like that huh? For all the spanish Iā€™ve taken I should be nativeā€¦but I screw up the easy stuff that a native speaker wouldnā€™t mess up. Doing Spanish 2 or 3 honors would stabilize the easy stuff for me I think. Then maybe next year see where I stand. Iā€™m sure science at SPS is harder than science at my school. You think doing one again would be a waste of time?

He seems like a cool person. Didnā€™t know he was a spanish teacher, talked to him at my visitā€¦about soccer though.

Will you guys come to Football games and watch my son play the next four years? I canā€™t make it because I live in California and I hope if youā€™re not studying or something you can head out to the field for the home games:) It would be a bummer for me if none of you managed to see him play. Bring a blanket and thermos of hot chocolate. Heā€™ll be playing for SPS and school pride. After all, the SPS experience is not all about college matriculation and what classes your taking is it? The other schools in the league make a big deal about their home games.

does anyone know about the orchestra program?
i talked to the director- but i would like an explanation about the auditions and rehearsals
Are there different levels for the group?

Iā€™ll make sure my son attends your musical performances if you show up at Football games.

Iā€™m sure Ill have nothing better to doā€¦unless I have a soccer game. Which would probably be likely since their in the same season and almost all games happen on wednesday and saturday.

<<Tongue-in-cheek.

I am sure my daughter will go to games. She was a cheerleader for the 8th grade football team this year. Canā€™t wait for her to get back from SPS and tell me how her 2 days went. I hope she brings me a sticker for my car:)

d2g - the orchestra is AMAZING in my opinion. Mr Seaton does a great job. They practice 2 nights per week for around 1 1/2 hours each. Pus you take your individual private music lesson. What instrument do you play?

sk8 - there is an SPS sticker in the packet she received so you should be all set.

I donā€™t think I got an SPS stickerā€¦but I may have. My parents opened the packet.

^ I donā€™t think my dad said anything about one. Then again I doubt he has really looked through it.

ā€¦Yea whatever.

creative- i play the violin, is there a lot of competition there? do you have details about the audition?
thanks
